Do hindu weddings allow for the mix like this? If so, would it be wrong to change the dress, or would they accept it since it it between christian and hindu? What if the bride doesn't have parents, or they are dead? Aren't they supposed to be a big part of the wedding? Just curious. I really don't know too much about this stuff, but my friend who is christian has a bf who is hindu, and I was wondering if they went back to india to get married how it would go (totoal IF here, just daydreaming and wondering how it would go)

They could very easily find an interfaith minister to marry them. Different sects have different "requirements" for interfaith marriage and depending on hos strict his family is they may or may not accpet the marriage. Since the sects have different rules regarding the marriage she would have to check with the minister in question about what she can and cannot wear, do, etc. As for the family's part in the wedding, there are stricter families who will not acknowledge an interfaith union and there are some who will wlecome the girl but not as a daughter, only a friend and there are some more liberal who will welcome her wholy. It's a very specific situation and all these factors would affect the outcome. However, it is not as unusual as it once was.

First of all get clarified that Hinduism is not a religion. It is a custom, tradition, culture and way of Hindus' lives in Hindustan (India). It has no limits, boundaries or restrictions. All Governments' acts, laws, rules, regulations and all the judgements confirm it, its casteism and no pre or post conditions for being & remaining a Hindu. A Hindu is always defined in all Acts, Rules, Regulations and Courts' judgements as the one who is not a Jew, Christian, Muslim or Parsi. Except them everybody is a Hindu even if not known to him. None can convert to Hinduism but a Hindu may embrace a religion and still remain a Hindu by nativity. Neither Christianity religion nor Hindu culture allows such marriage. However it can be registered under the Special Marriage Act 1954.

Yeah, Julie S must be Catholic.

A hindu ceremony is possible, and perhaps a reception or other celebration at home in traditional white dress. Weddings are very traditional, in a culture, it should be that the bride does what she wants, but there is always pressure.

Talk to the family, in laws, and see what is acceptable, and appropriate.

Congrats to your friend

First of all...if she's a Christian the Bible talks about not marrying someone of another faith....too many conflicts....There is only one God and if she is a Christian she should believe that and if she doesn't you may want to suggest to her to start reading her Bible to see what God says about these things....sounds rough but it's what God says that counts....
