Why should we be bothered if it does? It was still a free country last time I looked. It's only right that england should be able to fly the english flag, scotland the scottish, etc. and as a combined country we should fly the union jack.

Fly the flag yes absolutely...
I'm Scottish and just love seeing the Saltire flying free and proud......
I think it's a good idea to fly it along with the Union Jack...I'm a Scott who's British, and i like it that way.
The St Georges flag should be flown with pride as well if English and so on....Welsh, Irish..whatever nationality we are..some Muslims are proud to be British..so i say fly our flags!! xx
Added: Veronica that is the funniest answer I've read in a long time...especially the menopause part..LOL..good answer and absolutely hilarious.xx

Sorry to cut across you Suzie - this is a note for Ernie.
You can buy a wall-fixing flag pole with a Flag of St. George in The Range for £9.99. I've bought one for next 23rd April.
I might fly a Union flag, too. I already fly a Red Ensign on the back of my little boat.
And, I've reached the age where I don't really care if I do cause some upset - post menopause, low in oestrogen - high in attitude. Or, as my grandson remarked once "Never mess with my Granny when she's been at the whisky"! (It has to be Scotch because Gt. granny was a Grant)

It wasnt so long ago an elderly scottish man was instructed by his local council to take down his lion rampant flag as it was "offending" some non-british neighbours.
If Gordon Brown really thinks flying a few flags is going to solve this country's problems then perhaps he should be booted out of parliament now as he must be seriously deluded.

Not being funny, but flags or no flags, we won't be Great Britain for much longer. Why don't we buy in a load of EU flags, and get ahead of the game?
Why don't we put Gordon Brown's mug on our Euro currency, too. I'm sure that would go down a treat.
New Labour has brought a once great country to its knees, and sold our freedom for its own power. We need to take a stand. Doesn't matter how good he is, Gordon Brown is not our elected Prime Minister, and therefore should not be running our country.
So I will take pride in the Union Flag, and the Cross of St George, as I march up Whitehall to restore our great nation to glory. Anybody who is with me, hit me up at http://www.myspace.com/retroactyv

Why should flying the flag of your country upset anyone. In USA many people fly the stars & stripes, does it offend anyone? Maybe a few but 90-odd % are proud to be American.
We should fly the Union Flag & home country flag, if we are proud of our country and our heritage. If it upsets anyone, there are plenty of flights, ferries and trains out of the UK - Single fares are available!

It was flying at the airport when they arrived. If they didn't like it they should have gone home immediately......
They're here, they conform to OUR laws or sod off home in my opinion. Same as Bible-bashing Americans, Buddhists, Polish catholics, Zionists, Zoroastrians, Hindus, Sikhs, Jews.... whatever.
Im not being racist, but its OUR country, and why should we allow the imposition of unacceptable beliefs on us? All other religions are accepted and mind their own business, but this lot....... AAARRRGH!!!
Fly the flags!.

Its the councils that need to start flying the flags more, and acknowledge that this is the country we have paid them to administrate..
Stop being all pc one minute and trying to ban the waving of it, when people never stopped being patriotic in the first place..

Almost certainly not, but it will offend some petty local counsellors trying to make a name for themselves. In my small experience of the followers of Islam they are happy to go along with our National Customs and celebrations. I think the worry about the ethnic minorities taking offence is a red herring In the same way that it was suggested that we change the name of Wasterloo station so that we do not offend the French. In fact they care about as much as we do about the statue of Joan d'arc at Calais

This is England and that is the only justification we need for flying the flag! Do Muslim countries not fly their flag in case it offends others? I think not! P.C. has gone way too far!
