basically anxiety is a primal fear response. the brain releases adrenaline into the blood, and makes the body ready for "fight or flight". The symptoms generally associated with this release of adrenaline can be many and varied, and not all people experience the same ones. But most will experience, a rapid heart rate, rapid shallow breathing, tightning of muscles. The good news is, adrenaline is a fast acting quickly dissipating hormone, and therefore panic attacks or anxiety attacks are self limiting. Once released the adrenaline will not last longer than 15 or 20 minutes. As long as the person can remain quiet and still, it will pass. Of course hyperventilating and convincing yourself you are going to die will escalate the situation and cause ongoing release of more adrenaline. The key is to remain calm, try to slow your breathing and wait for the symptoms to pass, which they will in 15 or 20 minutes.

you might be anywhere when it starts..maybe with a feeling of unease, then there will be that inner voice which tells you that danger is lurking and that something bad is gonna happen no matter how much your common sense tells you nothing is wrong..this voice is stronger.then come the shakes, sweating, palpitations, dry throat, feeling like you are gonna die,the pressure on your chest and the feeling that you cant take a breath..the pain in your chest that you think is a heart attack about to happen, has more to do with the stress your body is just facing.the one thing i think of mainly though when it happens to try help myself is that panic or anxiety attacks are a flood of adrenaline to the body and if someone in any situation was on the verge of death they would be given a shot of adrenalin..so there is no way a panic or anxiety attack will ever harm you.still a horrible experience when it happens but not life threatening .the best of luck...

I am not a Doctor but I have had 2 anxiety attacks that I know of. My breathing deepend, my chest felt like I had a 300 lb weight on it, I got a bit dizzy and my head felt very full. I was a bit spaced for a while then it dissipated. I am sure there are different symptoms for everyone. Google it.

Hmmm How does one describe anxiety? It's that nervous, fearful, worrisome feeling. It can go from just general anxiety, like when you are about to take a test or worrying about someone's safety. But anxiety attacks are bigger, which can inlcude hyperventilating, heart palputations, dizziness, breaking out in a sweat and an overwhelming feeling of panic.
