I think one of the most unique San Diego attractions is Balboa Park. The zoo is only one part of the park - the park has beautiful museums, grounds, etc.
Hit the beautiful town of Julian, famous for its apples, in the San Diego mountains for the afternoon. The drive up is lovely and the apple pie is well worth the drive. If your travel companions are over 18, you can hit the Viejas casino on your way there or back to lose (or win) a little money. They also have a nice outlet center.
Another thing unique about San Diego is it's proximity to the US/Mexico border. You can visit Tijuana (during the day) and take in a different culture. You can park on the American side of the border and walk across. Have a margarita or two!
San Diego is a great city - enjoy the sights!

Yeah--there's the gaslight district, which is the main strip for art galleries and restaurants and stuff. It's really cute. I recommend taking their little trolley tour, because they drive you arround to all the touristy spots and provide a map and everything. Check out Old Town which is like a little Mexican village. You can buy souvenirs there and see some historic sites. Then try to make it out to the state reserve, Torrey Pines. Gorgeous view of the ocean from there and cool hiking trails. I know they have cruises too, but I don't know how much those are. (I was only there for 4 days, so I didn't get around to that.) Oh, also, I'm not sure if it's there all year round or what, but when I was there, they had an ice skating rink right in front of the Sheraton hotel.

it depends on where yu go. if yur in mission beach la jolla or any of those surrounding areas, you could go2 the wooden roller coaster, there is a bunch of little shops and fun things to do like the wave runner, which is surfing, but a machine makes the waves, theres n gaming place where yu could sit and play any video games you want... its awsum, a bunch of little shops, food, sponsers. you could also go wake boarding, waterskii, bike ride, surf, rollerblade, skate board, visit little mexico(but yu need transportation for that) ive been there a bunch of times and i love it. i hope this helped you
