Do what YOU want, that's why he asked you. He wants to spend a special day with you so pick something you'll really enjoy, and keep in mind that you could also make it something he would enjoy. Is there a place you've been wanting to go, like on a day trip? A museum, an amusement park? Pick something you'll enjoy and end the day by going out to eat at a nice restaurant.

me and my dad used to go to car shows, or I'd help him cut wood, or fix things. he'd always take me out to scampers or mary browns (restarants ) after wards. It never really mattered what we were doing, I just liked spending time with him.
This is a hard question to answer because I don't know you or your dad, or what you like.
there are lots of different things you could do together, mini golf, musiums, amusment parks, or even just a walk in the park, go for ice cream or have him take you to your favorite restarant. heck, go fly a kite.
It's a great opportunity to get to know your dad better, I know my dad has tonns of hilarious stories- I mean he's been alive for 50 years.
The only suggestion I would have is avoid something like a movie or show, because you dont' get to talk at all, and it kind of defeats the purpose.
what ever it is I'm sure you'll have lots of fun, and I hope it becomes a frequent tradition for you two.

My daughter was very good at doing whatever I wanted to do, if I wanted to go canoeing, she went canoeing and we had a great time. She loved the same movies I did (Monty Python). We seemed to like a lot of the same things so I guess I was just extremely lucky, pick something YOU will enjoy doing, not just something you think would please him. If you are not having fun you cant fake it, whether it is going swimming, to an amusement park, or just a drive. He just wants to be with his daughter because he loves you, cherish the timetogether, it will be over all too soon and you never get it back.

Ummm...not shopping unless he really likes to shop. Shopping is torture for anybody who doesn't enjoy it (like me...I prefer a root canal).

Is there something the two of you both like to do? Mini-golf, regular golf? Going to the movies? Joining a book club together? Taking a cooking class at the local community college? (Ours has classes in Chinese, Mexican, Vietnamese, Sushi, Barbecue, etc.). My dad and I both took a foreign language class together at the community college when I was in high school, because we wanted to learn the language our ancestors spoke. Maybe you want to redecorate your bedroom and you could work on it together, him teaching you to do the craftsman stuff like building new furniture or something? Irish step dancing? (Okay, I'm just kidding on that last one.)

There must be something that the two of you have in common. If you can't think of a typical activity, consider your ethnic background and see if there is something that the two of you could do or learn together that relates to that.

I'm not sure how old you are, but I'm only guessing you're a teen. Do something that you both feel you will enjoy. See a movie, go to lunch, or something that he likes. I don't know how excited Dad will be to be malling around, so maybe you should keep it to something that you both have in common.

Do whatever you think will be fun- not to include really girly things you do with your girlfriends. GoKarts, Put-put, movie theatre, zoo, amusement park, carnival, aquarium, etc. If you do things like going to Hollister to check out the sales rack, I'm sure your time together will be dull and painfully boring for him.
