By law his job even with the promotion has to allow him his time to search in the Reserves.
NO there is no way to get out of it. He is IN the Reserves and he signed a legal contract to serve his one weekend a month two weeks a year.
Don't confuse the situation that he is in. He should be able to take the promotion and still honor his contract, he and or you just don't want to serve anymore. Once his enlistment or contract is up he can stop serving until then he has to serve. He can adjust his time that he goes, but by the end of the fiscal year he still needs to be caught up with all his time as long as his chain of command approves his chit to change his times.
If he blows it off he will be discharged with an Other Than Honorable Discharge and get no benefits in return.

Certainly his employer knows that your husband is in the Reserves and knows what his commitments are.
I had a problem with an employer over this. Knew I was a National Guardsman before I was hired. I did my two weeks duty and when I came back my boss handed my last paycheck and fired for taking the time off. That was a very costly mistake for him. The negative publicity cost him his business too. Oh well.
This is similar to your situation. Take the promotion. If his boss rescinds the promotion due to his military obligations, his boss will go broke settling the lawsuit. Either way, your hubby wins!

He should talk to his chain of command. It varies from command to command, but most units are very good about working around civilian jobs (unless he gets activated, in which case you got to go) and letting members make up drill time on a flexible schedule. If worst comes to worst, or if he just wants to get out, he can transfer to the IRR. That means he shifts to a non-drill, non-pay status. It is very difficult to go back to SELRES from the IRR, so he better be sure he is done with the Navy if he does that. Remember there are employee protections by law for reservists and guardsmen under USERRA and other acts so his reserve comittment should not be an issue in his promotion at his civilian job.

Every company should allow him to serve in the Reserves without any problem. If they don't they are going against the law I believe.

They have to let him do his reserve time and they can't treat him different because he is in the reserves with regards to promotion. This is a federal law.

He cannot get out of the reserves until his obligated date. He may be able to transfer to another reserve duty station where the job is, or he may have to travel to his current duty station. Tell him to talk to his commander about the situation.

no, he has a contract and he must honor it. also, his civilian employer MUST allow him the time off every month and the two weeks training every year with NO ramifications or effects.
the promotion should have ZERO effect whatsoever on his Reserves commitment.

touch a recruiter for the quite a few branches of the service and ask him/her to direct you to whoever you are able to desire to talk to to get immediately solutions as to what your recommendations are. i does not evaluate growing to be to be something different than an officer, if I had a masters degree. the version between enlisted and being an officer is the version between hamburger and steak. be attentive to rely what your loyalties are to the defense force and or your us of a, faster or later you will retire (in case you reside that long) and the retirement would be a ways greater perfect as an officer. I, in my opinion could look in the direction of the reserves to income the two retirements. it may look that while you're IT qualified (they could desire to be waiting to attempt for that) they could place you in that MOS. sturdy success.
