I like the idea of being on the road and on my own, plus from what I understand the money is really good too. However, I don't want to be away from my wife and daughter for long periods of time. Any ideas or suggestions.

Get a video phone with email capabilities so you can send messages to them and they can talk to you. Get a laptop computer with wireless internet so you can use internet at various locations while on the road. There are lots of different ways to keep in contact. Also, how about taking your wife and daughter with you during school breaks?

The money is pretty good, and there is certainly plenty of work available and probably will continue to be.
The downside is the time away from home. Some companies guarantee to get you home every (particular interval), maybe once a week, some don't, so look at that if you're signing on with someone.
