Hi sweetie

Yes witches have familiars. They are spirits that guide us and assist us in whatever ways they are ment too. They can inhabit many forms and animals, not just black cats as the popular belief is.

I have a cat, her name is Aura and she is my familiar just as her mother was befre her and her mother was before her.

Don't go looking for your familiar, when you are ready they will come to you. There are however spells that you can do to let your familiar know you are searching and or could use some assistance.

No, witches don't have 'familiars'; that's a myth propagated by the Church during the persecutions.

The suggestion was that a 'familiar' was a kind of personal demon, a messenger between the witch and 'the devil'. Utter nonsense, of course, but since most of the people the Church targeted had pets, or talked to the wild animals around them (as many witches do), it made it easier to 'prove' that they were 'in league with the devil'

It's a misconception. Many witches do have pets though.

Although I do admit that the energy I use to shield my house is manifest as a wolf spirit.

Not all witches have familiars, but many witches do have animals with whom they have a special bond and who seem to be interested in their owners' workings.

My dog will stay with me when I do my rituals, and when I call my circle she will bark at North once it is called. Not the others, just North... it's really cute... =)
