I don't know if it was totally Smoke's fault but he sure is invloved in a LOT of wrecks that according to him are never his fault. If you do a little math his words don't quite add up to the outcomes of his actions. Regardless of who did what, that is stuff that should be worked out between teammates. He totally threw Denny under the bus there. He has been MORE whiny than Gordon for at least 2 or 3 years now. I applaud Denny for being classy about it and WOULD applaud Tony if he DIDN'T speak his mind so much.

There's an article on the NASCAR website stating that Stewart got into the back of Hamlin and caused that wreck.
"Oh, and then there was the scrap early in the race between Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin. Stewart ran into the back of Hamlin when they were running one-two just 14 laps into the 160-lap event, but Stewart vehemently blamed Hamlin for checking up too hard as they came through Turn 4."
"If he wants me to be the bigger man, I'll take the blame," Hamlin later told reporters, although it was obvious he thought the blame very well might lay with the guy driving the car who actually did the hitting -- and not the other way around.

what I believe happened is that when Stewart got really close behind Hamlin and got him a little loose and Hamlin had to life off the gas and Stewart did not life and got into the back of Hamlin while in a corner. Stewart should have known better than try to bump draft someone while going through a corner. The second part to all of this which was after the wreck, Stewart had the nerve to blame his own team mate and say that Hamlin was at fault...that is just something you really do not do. Then again it is Tony Stewart, how blames everyone but himself when something like that happens.

First of all, I take offense that you would even think to mention Tony "up in smoke" Stewart and Jeff "4 Cup Championships with a 5th on the way" Gordon in the same breath.
Secondly, clearly Tony Stewart does not live on the same planet as the rest of us. If he did, he would know that it is not in the team's best interest for him to ram his fat head into the rear end of another car - his teammate's car - only 15 laps into the race.
Tony deserved to lose due to his lack of sportsmanship and brain cells, but Denny had a shot at the win and was once again struck by tragedy. Denny and his team are definitely one of the hardest working teams in NASCAR this year.

Tony has done enough whinning this season to last all of NASCAR for a decade......yeah.
Tony was bump drafting Denny all over the track, even in the turns. Denny claims he never checked up, and even if he did it was Tony's fault for bumping him all around the track like a hot headed moron.
Tony's lack of accountability and constant hot headed behavior is wearing real thin and if I where JGR I would make him pay for the cars that got wrecked (both of them) and pay for the new COT's replacing them. Might teach him to quit being so wreckless and unaccountable.

From watching the race, there is no way that Denny caused the wreck. Tony could have gone around, let off the gas, touch the break, but he ran right into him coming out of the turn. There is no way that Tony could possibly blame Denny. But Denny is to much of class act to really cause any trouble between the two, but Tony eh....not so much

I thought it was a little of both...Hamlin was having handling issues and checked up, but he should have seen Stewart in his mirror and maybe been a little more cautious.
Stewart, on the other hand, appeared to be bump-drafting Hamlin in the corner, which, as I understand it, is illegal.
Stewart should have calmed down and checked the replay before calling out his teammate the way he did. Kudos to Hamlin for accepting his share of the blame

I think they are both equally at fault. Denny was tight, and checked up, and Stewart lifted out of the throttle to late, but he should have known that Denny was tight, and he did and should have lifted earlier. So thats why Stewart hit Denny from behind. So its both equally their fault I guess, I mean Denny checked up, and Stewart bumped into him because he didnt lift out of the throttle early enough.

Tony Stewart and my wife may have the same biological parents. Neither of them have been wrong about anything in 6+ years. It is truely a pleasure to have met both people on earth than have not made any mistakes in their lifetimes.
