Going to the Chicago race...It's on TNT, is there any local media coverage of the race?

Anybody ever camp for the weekend there? what should i know? We have a sweet camper with a couple of flat screen TV's but is there a way to watch the race from outside the track? we have only 2 tickets for 4 of us??

There should be all kinds of local media there covering the race. Even WAND from Decatur (about 250 miles away) has been there in the past.

I think there is camping there in the infield, but I don't know how much it is to get in there. As far as watching from the outside, you can probably catch some of the race from if you can find Speed's "Trackside" TV show set. There are huge monitors inside the track, if you can get your camper in the infield, but that might be a moot point if you have to have tickets to get into the infield.

good luck ..have fun..unless you get the camp ground that is on the southeast side of the track ..but those sites sell out fast...they can walk around in the souvenir area.... you might get lucky to get extra tickets because they do hold some back nad some do sell extra tickets but i don't know how much they charge..i was there last year for pole day..and they was selling tickets but the draw back is you have to buy the indy race tickets also..and no i haven't camped there for the weekend..they want us to rent the camper for a whole week not just three days(local camper rentals) we was looking to get INSIDE ,but we are looking to do that next year

get a direct tv dish for your camper and point it to the south till you get a good signal probably some where around a 30 degree angle

The chicago media wont be covering the race. they cant even pronounce the drivers names. Good luck with that,
