The WBTS discourages free thinking, encouraging followers not to "run ahead of the society"
Free thinking and freedom of expression is a BIG no no.
They have their memorized retorts to give no matter what the question. That is why when you ask back up questions they get stuck because they are not accustomed to developing their own answers based on their faith and beliefs only from their false "faithful and discreet slave class"
merdezez,
allow me this:
Why just take some man's word for it????
You guys do it all the time:
"The society says this"
"The society says that"
and you swallow it hook line and sinker without have the faith in God to ask questions, research independently, have the spirit of God work through you and guide and direct you.
Use your own answer to reflect upon your own cultish organization.

There are many reason people say and do that; Many have such Bad Pride, I truly think there exists a phenomenon in which most people are reluctant to concede even the most obvious point for fear that it will undermine their position on anything and everything. You see that often in answer.I saw it today a few times. They get an answer that is back by facts or good reasoning and they pick one that isn't just because it agrees with them. And they praise it sometimes--now that's a little ignorant to me Some are unaware, and depend on some web source or a friend who told them this who isn't giving all the facts but a bias view and take that for enough to answer the question only when you put out a common sense retort, something they didn't think about they are lost . People use to think the earth was flat because others taught them so- not because it was correct. Defensive to admit the truth. That trait goes way back to Adam and Eve. I notice some are upset about disfellowship. It's fine they like what they have learned than suddenly if THEY are called for accountability the religion is unfair. I guess you could say that goes back to Adam too. "The women you gave me" "The serpent 's fault" Rather than ask for mercy and do what they have to do, they look for blame on everyone but themselves when they made the choice knowing the punishment. And ohhh how others are quick to say --that's not nice of them when there is no getting around the early Christians did this as well. They aren't just condemning you they are condemning them as well. We are not talking about beatings with a whip here. Or that it is forever . It could be short if one was very sorry. Sheese And We sure don't like to be corrected when Everyone Knows. (that pride again) On the blood it isn't they are more knowledgeable about blood often. They is so much new on that now we know. I notice many don't know much about it. My doctor just learned more about it this year and she is in favor of it all the way. But her husband won't even look at it. Just some say oh they would have died if they didn't get one. Yet if they do died "because of the transfusion itself" they rarely take the blame they put on you, Instead they say it because that is just a chance everyone takes. But it's not one chance they have too and should anymore is the part they ignore. Who is brainwashed here when many doctors are saying the results are good bloodless? No it isn't ignorance.Ignorance can stifle learning, in that like a person who falsely believes she or he is knowledgeable will not seek out clarification of her beliefs, but rather rely on her or his ignorant position. May also reject valid but contrary information, neither realizing its importance nor understanding it. Unaware of many conditions to things. I think most of you know where to find the information you need that is a reliable source.I read your answers and have checked sometimes to see if it was so. And we all are learning and should everyday. And yes if can know more about a subject more than another even if they are involved in it doesn't mean they know more. (say Catholics--many don't know all their doctrines and you might from a study you have done, it would be foolish to say they know more just because they are in that group. ) Many people found out about an illness they have not from their Doctors who couldn' t pin point it but study on their own -and they saved their own life they would be dead if they listen to some doctors-- the web is full of such stories. And another reason is by putting others down some get an elevated feeling of ego just from that. Bully mentality I can't answer for your group but thought I would add this in.

Proverbs 26:5, "Answer someone stupid according to his foolishness, that he may not become someone wise in his own eyes." DO YOU MEAN LIKE THAT?
Apparently, you just cannot get used to a people speaking in agreement and using the Bible as source authority for our beliefs as true Christians must.
I feel sorry for your ignorance. Rejoice that it does not have to be a permanent condition. It remains your choice to remain ignorant or not.
You can come into the light of reason like us. It is very liberating. We see the reason behind world events and the future is bright. Meanwhile, life is better in the here and now as we know how to have the best life personally and family and with other people. We don't really need any of the 600,000 self-help books printed each year as we understand the Bible's counsel.
So, hope you get over your ignorance. Bye.

If JWs are brainwashed then they would simply follow the crowd and worship the same pagan deity that was adopted from Egypt.

A typical Jehovah's Witness is not ignorant.
Ironically, it tends to be anti-Witnesses who demonstrate bigotry and prejudice regarding the actual teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses. Anti-Witnesses seem to be the very definition of "brainwashed" when they intentionally choose to avoid the truth about the object of their persecution campaigns.

One revelation of R&S for me has been the many people who use Scripture as a substitute for thinking and reason. And it's NOT just JWs.
Quotations to illustrate or emphasise are fair enough, but if that's all that's in an answer, it's probably all that's in a person's head. That's not a human.

Wow...I am not a Mormon....
But, I have been saying the same thing to the fundies...can they not speak from their heart, from their convictions...are they only able to regurgitate the programmed, rhetorical verses they have been taught to use by their religion.
I think too many people are hung up on the semantics of their religions and have lost sight of God...not just JW's...but also fundies.

Was that a question or just a rant? I don't copy and paste stuff. Most Jehovah's witnesses know more about the bible than the average person. So I doubt very much if they need to consult anything other than the bible to answer questions.
My self personally, I would rather see a scriptural answer than some guy saying, "it is a mystery so you have to believe that I am right" Yea like that's going to happen.
Why should we believe some man and not want a scripture to back it up?

Sigh and yawn. Even after calling them on their ignorance what do they do? Say the same regurgitated thing. Even grnlow tried to come off smug and educated, and what did he do? The same thing they all do. They use your own words, reform the same sentence and then use it again against you. Will is right. The same retarded retorts over and over again. The thing that is quite laughable is that they are arrogant about and with their ignorance.
