Yes they can. My Lab knows every mood or emotion I am feeling. When I cry he will not leave my side, and he cuddles with me. He often tries to cheer me up by doing something goofy. When I got hurt and depressed he made sure I got out of bed every day, either by pouncing on me, or pulling the blankets off. After I was up he would go about his business. He also can sense if someone is disabled or older. I take him to see my elderly grandpa everyday and my dog acts completely different, The normally hyper dog becomes very quiet and attentive to him.So you are not going crazy you just have a best friend who will always love you and be there for oyu no matter what.

Yes. They are very in tune to people. Especailly if you are the primary person to care for her, she looks to you for direction and protection. If you are upset and crying, she is going to do what she can to take some contol and take away your pain. Even if that just means to come over to you and make you snuggle her. Both of mine know when I am upset and my girl is never quite sure what to do. She tries to get me to play with her or go for a walk, or anything to just get up and get my mind off it. She protects me when I am sick. My boy with lick my tears away and snuggle me when I cry. Belive it or not, he will try to wrap his arms around me for a hug. When I am sick, me will get into bed with me and do what he can to keep me warm.

My girl is a 45 pound border collie, and my boy is a 58 pound GSD/Dobie mix (we think). When I was growning up, my sister was a beagle. When I went through my teenage angst trouble years she was right there to help me through. I think she may have saved my life a few times because she was there when I was suicidal. Once when I was cutting, she came to me and put her paw on my hand with the razor blade to stop me. She licked my wounds a few times, and in those places I didn't get scars. I however VERY much do not recomend any one else do that, but I can tell you that is where my decision to become a dog trainer and rescuer was cemented into place.

Trust you puppy. If you are upset, play with her. Do something to make you happy, and it will help to make you happy.

I truly believe that our pets can sense when we are sick, hurt and happy. My husband had surgery back in May and was at home for 2 weeks. Our Sheltie dog and Calico cat stayed either on the couch with him or on the floor beside the couch. They are very intune with our emotions. No, you are not going crazy....and you have a very sweet and smart puppy :-)

Animals may not understand words, but they are masters at body language. Mine always flock to me when I have had a rotten day. Nothing helps lift the spirits like a fuzzy head to pat, and a confidential ear to tell your troubles to!

You are definitely not going crazy. When it comes to things like this, dogs have a wierd sense of knowing when you need a friend, and when you need to be left alone.

I've had dogs my entire life, and it never fails.

Yes! When you cry you are making the same kind of noise when they cry/wine. When you cry and put your head down you are showing the same reaction if they were scared/ shy or frighten. Yes, you are crazy...for your doggie and that's A OK!!!!

I think they can. We had our cat for 7 years and I am suffering from a disease that causes much pain in the joints and when I felt my worse my cat would come to me and lay on me and wouldn't leave me alone so long as I was crying and in pain. It was a real comfort. I really miss her.

It is amazing what a dog can fill, think and responds when it is identified with his master human (I rather to say true friend), they are so sensitive and are so tender that moves our hearth to a true communication, they understand us better than we do to them, you are not crazy, you are starting to understand your puppy, try harder, it will give you the purest love. Don't underestimate their intelligence and tenderness, give him/his the best love you can, you will be rewarded.
