It seems like there are so many people who claim to be Christian who are actually trying to support their own dogma or agenda, and it causes a rift between true Christians and non-Christians. Do you think this is so, or is there another reason?

One bad apple spoils the whole barrel.

Because of the Christians who insist upon a message of hate, Christianity has been distorted into a hyper-conservative, self-righteous, and inaccessible religion. Honestly, who wants to be a part of something that puts you down, condescends to you, and is filled with obtuse rules?

True Christianity asks that one keep an open mind, be humble, and welcome others, not exclude them. I'm sure if some people would stop looking down on non-Christians, we'd have more Christians.

There is a constant battle between good and evil in the spiritual realms. Satan is trying all he can to deceive and to keep unbelievers from becoming believers. He also attack the believers's mind, trying to convince them that God is not fair, that God is not a loving God, that God is trying to keep you from having fun in life. Unbelievers have their mind wide open to Satan 's attack, so they do what Satan tells them to, in other countries where there is no law protecting free religion and sanctity of life, the unbelievers just perform what Satan told them: go out and kill christians. In the USA, although the laws are becomming more and more anti-christian, Christians still enjoy some degree of religious freedom. This freedom wont last long though, if christians dont exercise their civic duties and vote to make sure that God-haters Senator and Congress wont pass more and more stringent anti -christian laws.

I don't have a problem with Christians. But I DO have a problem with someone shoving a bible in my face and telling me that I'm going to go to hell for my sins by a "born-again" Christian.

This happened to me outside a marilyn manson concert I was going to once when I was about 19. I'm a catholic. I'm not a devil worshipper. I don't dress in black from head to toe and/or paint my face white. But just by deciding to go in there I was damned to Hell for all eternity. I could have been saved easily though. Oh yeah. All I had to do was pledge allegiance, pay them a monthly "donation" and then go spread the word to our brothers and sisters.....hmmmm..... I decided to put my money on beer at the concert, lol!!

Hostile Christianity breeds hostile responses. In general, Christianity imposes it's beliefs on non-believers. Especially in Legislation, Government and politics. Christianity is uniquely set up to condemn those who don't believe in it. You don't see the problem?

A difference of beliefs in a God and not a God! we have so many religions out there that just about every belief in the world has been tried. the reason for all this is that Satan has blinded the minds of some that religion itself is self destructive.

True Christians will always be mocked and hated just as Jesus would, sufferieng some persecution, as the truth leads to conviction to change, and many dont want to change. There you go. BUt, we arent to care or worry about it. God is pleased when we live the truth and speak it boldly, without fear or compromise. Just as He did it.
No matter how nicely we try to word things, those rebelling against God will always take offesnse until they are ready to give up the fight in the rebellion against the Lord. But, we dont have to accept the bait of offense, and battle them back. We are to speak truth and live it, and leave the rest to God. But to do so in love as much as possible, but not to tipetoe. No time left to tiptoe with the gospel.
There are some that also will word things very wrong, as they are so passionate in their beliefs that the other person feels pushed to believe, thats not ever the desire, but when you believe something so much and you love ppl as God loves them, and you want them to have what you have, its hard to not be overly passionate about it. WE must remember to live it, speak it and leave the rest to God. Not everyone will even say Yes to God Himself. Remember Jesus was killed for the things He said and did. They even mocked him for healing on the sabbath. Someone can always find fault at what you do, even when you are doing it just right, from their own rebellious heart and spirit, either of fear, jealousy or a host of other things.
Just stand up for Jesus, and leave the rest to Him.
The Holy Spirit is to do the convicting. WE must remember that, tho it is easy to want to give it to them so bad, that we try too hard. Thats not ever again. Just trust in God to do the rest after you did your part. There you go.

Make a list of the people whom you perceive as being hostile and ask them. Anything else is speculation.

Christians create their own hostility.

They can't even decide amongst themselves what the "true" part of their religion is. Yet they still try to force it onto the rest of the world.

Most of us are former Christians, and we resent what we used to be because we were essentially forced into it.

I did and said some terrible things because of my childhood brainwashing. I feel horrible about it, and I wish the system that convinced me to say those things would go away.

Because many are returning what they've been given by Christians.
