Expect her to be depressed and/or have trouble walking. Losing an eye can cause anyone to be off balance and dizzy. She will lose her depth perception, she may run into things for awhile until she gets used to it.
Best case scenario: she will take it in stride and be just fine.
Worst case scenario: she will be depressed to the point of not eating, sleeping, going potty outside, playing, etc.
I had a poodle who lost her vision and she was the worst case scenario. Your baby will most likely be fine, though.
The best thing you can do is to make sure you have a strong support group for you, which you have already begun by posting here.

Aw, sorry to hear it
I haven't had a pet that's had an eye removed, but I've seen a fair few that have had it done. As a matter of fact there's a dog booked in at my surgery tomorrow to have its eye removed. It's had a terrible ulcer on it for months, and surgery to heal it hasn't worked. The dog is in a lot of pain and I think it will be a lot happier without its eye!
Animals seem to adjust to things like loss of eyes, and even limbs, far better than humans do. Ask your vet how long they think it will take for your dog to adjust, but I would think maybe 2-3 weeks? It will be weird for her when she wakes up but she will have been given plenty of analgesia so she won't be in any pain.
How old is your doggy? The dog that's having his eye removed tomorrow is a fairly old cavalier - about 8 I think? He also has other health problems so I wonder how this will hit him - it has to be done though. The owners have been really reluctant to have it done so I think it's a bit overdue.

I just had 2 cats that had to have their eyes removed due to infections before I got them. One eye each.
They stayed at the vet for 2 days on pain meds. Then I picked them up and was given antibiotic.
There was no aftercare involved. They had to stay inside for two weeks. The closed eyes healed fine. (This was last month). There were no stitches to take out or anything.

I took care of a Scottie in a boarding kennel that had his eye removed. There was nothing left of it, so the hair just grew over it. It was not bad, and he seemed to be able to get around fairly well.

I haven't, but a friend of mine has a basset that lost both eyes to glaucoma.
She says the best reference to start with is http://blinddogs.com/
There's also a Yahoo Group there which is full of people with lots of experience and information for you.

my little buddy had one removed due to bad cataracts. my vet told me exactly what to expect and if you are unsure ask your vet cause each dog will act different. i had to confine my guy to one room for awhile cause it cuts down their vision but he adjusted really well!

At least the hair will grow over it. The fluffy ones sometimes no one can tell.
