its called opsec (operational security). you have no clearance, nor a need to know.

as far as new equipment under wraps, youd have to be stupid to think the armed forces doesnt have a few aces up their sleeves.

Well if it's a secret, we'll know when they want us to know....But any nation wouldn't show their high cards, unless they really need to...... If we were under full attack.. we'd probably see stuff that would boggle the mind.......The atomic bomb was secret..so was the H-bomb, the heat ray, the stealth fighter, etc, and they were made public..so I think our country has a few special suprises underwraps, till we need them.....

Of course.

They have tons of technology we aren't told about.

What I find really interesting that came to light recently, they have entire Army bases run on wind and solar. meanwhile they have oil-company connection up the yazoo saying these technologies aren't efficient.

Next time some right wing trog tells you solar energy is a fantasy, point him to those links. The second is from National Defense Magazine!!!!!!!!!!

My point being there's no need to hide things from the American public. They don't care enough to find out about it anyway.

I know they do. I saw the SR-71 in 1968, it didn't come unclassified until the mid 70's. The actual speed that it can reach is still classified.

Of course they do, it is called Area 51/ Groom lake.

When you have a 7 mile long airstrip and a closed base, they are testing new things all the time.

Of course they hide stuff. Do you think we want everybody to know exactly what we have? I wouldn't feel safe if I knew everything our military used. Because if I know it, then surely the bad guys can figure out how to trump it.

I think people need to be concious and aware of the forum here. EVERYONE can read this stuff. Whatever our military does to keep us safe, if it means not telling everyone about a new whatever, I'm all for it.

Of course they are. That's what secrets are -- things being hidden from the general public and our enemies.
