A religious sentiment has no business being the motto of a nation that cherishes religious freedom for all, but I'd rather work toward restoring "E Pluribus Unum" as the official motto than creating a mess with permanent markers.

I would, but unfortunately English money keeps any god out of it ... and the only dollar I have is one I kept from a sale I made to someone in America.

If I had more to display, I seriously would. Its only illegal to deface legal tender, which the dollar is not here.

When I actually see money I just use it.. the phrase has no meaning to me. About 90% of the time though, maybe more, I either write a personal check or use my debit card and neither of them have any sort of deity reference on them.

Ridiculous. Money only has the value of the labels people attach to it, and the same goes for the junk on it. I'm afraid I only see any value in it as it applies to paying the bills and helping others do the same. I have no aversions to goofy numbers and symbols that have no inherent existence.

Ha! Well, I can't do that because I'm British. Guess what though - we have a picture of Darwin on the back of our £10 notes! THERE'S something American atheists can aspire to. Keep it up, guys, one day you'll be in the majority.

The only part of a dollar bill that I'm concerned with is the numbers in the corners.

It's not that I can't stand that we have "god" on our money. It's the fact that "in god we trust" is a total lie. It should say, "in the almighty dollar we trust" as that is really the way it is in this country.

I do not give the words that much power that I would waste my time crossing it out. It would be a better use of my time to petition congress to remove it from all money.

Isn't that a federal offense? All money spends the same way no matter what it says...

Not a bad idea. I would if I had money.
But these days I never see any cash, everything I do is electronic.
