I have a back molar with an amalgam filling that I had replaced last week with a white filling. It appears to me that a thin line of the amalgam filling was left behind, as I can see it between where my tooth stops and the white filling begins. Also, the filling color is a 'yellowed' white and does not match the natural color of my tooth. Am I being picky here, or should the visible line of silver be gone, and the filling match more closely with my natural color on the molar? Thanks in advance!

yes, it does match it. They get the amalgam out and match the filling to the tooth, then mix it and put it on the tooth.

Your not being picky, it fine to feel this way.

It should be the same color, if you think it doesn't match talk to your dentist about it or get other preofessional opinions

Dr. Albert, DDS (UNI… is the composite filling really better.
For one, it sounds like the dentist did not remove all of the amalgam from the tooth. That means he did not get a good bond with the white filling. Now given that white fillings last 5-7 years and 10 at the most, while the average life span of an amalgam filling is 15-20 years, is the white filling still better?
And when you go to take out that white filling and the tooth underneath is mush because of the leakage that occurs with composite fillings, while most amalgam fillings come out and the tooth underneath is hard, is the white filling still better??

And krakenup....take a pill man. I bet I could find some problems with your brother's work too.

ask for your money back or get a specialty lawyer to take them to task. no! they should not have left the mercury-laden silver in there and it is so easy to match the color. they are incompetent and should be taught a lesson. pisses me off to hear about such work. my brother is a dentist and would never allow such trashy work. unless they did it for free, you have a duty to rake them over the coals. your instincts are correct! dont take no for an answer. kick them around the block.

HELLO,
THE FILLING IS NOT THE EXACT MATCH TO THE TOOTH BECAUSE THE FILLING DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROPERTIES FOUND IN NATURAL ENAMEL AND TOOTH DENTIN. BUT, IT'S BETTER THAN HAVING THE DARK SILVER FILLING? RIGHT?
IT'S IN THE BACK OF YOUR MOUTH WHERE NOBODY WILL SEE IT ANYWAY.
