Sounds like Tapeworm get rid of the fleas and get meds for the worms. What kind of shot is your vet giving your cat? If you don't like your vet go to another one. That might be your best bet. Hope it all works out.... All the best;~}

Rice worm? You mean it looks like a grain of rice? That's a tapeworm. They get them from eating birds, rodents, or swallowing fleas that are carrying part of the parasite during it's life cycle.
You need to keep him indoors so he won't eat this stuff, and that'll take care of the worms after the last treatment.
The vet gave shots? Usually tapeworm gets a goo you put into the cat's mouth. Ask the vet which parasite he's treating the cat for. And ask him for suggestions on what to do to stop the cat from picking the worm up all the time--he'll likely say to keep the cat indoors, so you should seriously consider it.

the worm that looks like rice is a tape worm. Normally a pill will kill them. Never heard of a shot for them, course I'm not a vet. Does he go outside? he may be getting them from eating mice, or cheap wet food. I'd limit him to a good dry food, and don't let him out. Don't allow him around other animal either.

your cat gets the tapeworm( that what those little rice worms really are) from eating his fleas- once you get the fleas under control-no more worms. The flea harbors the tapeworm eggs, which when ingested then attaches to your cats digestive tract. Get a good flea treatment from the vet when you go back for another worm shot!!

I'm assuming by rice worm you mean a tape worm that characteristically looks like a grain of rice. Your cat gets worms by ingesting fleas while grooming. You need to give your cat advantage flea medicine that you put on between the shoulder blades. You also need to clean and vacuum all areas where your cat sleeps. If your house has fleas, you'll have to bomb it. Once your pet is rid of fleas, go online to a pet med site and buy Praziquantel Tape Worm med for cats. It's by Tradewinds. It will tell you how much you need to give your cat based on how much he weighs. You can find it on 1800PetMeds.com or I've even seen it on ebay. This should do the trick. It has worked for my cats. Good luck!

You have to make sure that his fleas are gone, and that he is not eating mice that he catches. You can order worm meds online and it is cheaper than a Vet visit and shots. Be sure to follow the product instructions. You can go online to Foster and Smith and ask for advice. When you find out what you need, you can price shop the various vet sites for the best deal. You can go to a Pet store and read the labels for a med, or go to a feed store and check out the pet aisle for a med. Best of luck to you and your cat!!

Have you got rid of the fleas? You need to make sure that he has no fleas at all. they try worming him with a wormer from the vets. This is the only way you can treat rice worm as supermarket brought wormers are not efficient enough. Rice worms are caused by fleas.

Get rid of the fleas. That is what causes them. They lick and clean themselves and swallow fleas when they do causing these nasty worms. Get capstar, frontline top spot and treat for worms again. There is a medication you can give them. It is yellow and I cannot think of the name but you get it at the vet. You give it to the cat and then in 10 days you give it again getting rid of all the worms.

Rice worm? do you mean tapeworm? If thats what he has, he is probably getting them from fleas and as long as you dont treat the fleas, you'll continue to have that problem because he'll keep reinfesting himself by ingesting a flea. You have to treat the source if you want the problem to be fixed. It only takes him ingesting one infected flea.

yeah I agree with the other poster... you have to get a veterinarian strength deworming medication. Our friend's cat had them the other week, and he was taken to the vets the next day... He is feeling much better and worm free
