That's a pretty good question, and the answer is - it depends:
In Manhattan: anywhere along 5th Avenue between E.60 Street & E.96 Street, also the same stretch on Central Park West.
In the Bronx: the Riverdale area, especially the closer you get to Wave Hill. There are some really fine houses/mansions in that area - also a yacht club and some private enclaves. Also a small portion of the Country Club area (South of City Island)and a small portion near the Throgs Neck Bridge.
In Queens: the further East you go on the North Shore - Douglaston, Little Neck, parts of Bayside and Malba (which is under the Whitestone Bridge). There is also a small part called Jamaica Estates - which is near the Grand Central Parkway.
In Brooklyn: would have to be the Brooklyn Hieghts area - lot of brownstones and cobbestoned streets. Some of the area known as Bay Ridge (especially anything that faces New york Harbor by the Verazanno-Narrows Bridge).
Not sure about Staten Island.
