I am constantly being teased for being slim. I am 5'5" and 110lbs. I am in great shape and have a high metabolism-I eat like a grown man. I am tired of hearing the "you should eat" comments. What would you say to shut someone up?

To me, it is just as disrespectful if I pick on an overweight person for eating.

"You should eat."

Your response:

"You should eat me."

No, only kidding, just tell them "I eat plenty, thanks."
They're just JEALOUS!

It's obvious to some people are not really aware of what you do in terms of how you eat, and keep healthy. And yet, they tease you---if you know how you maintain your healthy diet and exercise, you should be proud and with life expectancy to live longer.

If folks are telling you to be careful how you eat, just simply say thanks for the advice, but you can take care of yourself and for the other person to kindly drop the subject about eating habits--thanks! Or even better, tired of hearing the same thing over again like 'a broken record'. Enough already!

Smile!

PSST- for a overweight person, it's difficult because they have health issues to face like chances of diabetis, heart problems, and serious arthritis due to heavyness of the weight they carry. I really feel for them, and know they are struggling, as it helps if someone offers the person support, guidance and share a good joke or chat to lift their spirits up.

I tried to come up with a whitty answer, but nothing jumps to mind. If you cannot just ignore the comment, you should just be firm in saying something like, I have eaten all I want, or what ever is appropriate.

You might also start with you friends and if someone says something, be honest and tell them that you are tired of hearing all of the comments on your weight and what you should eat and how much. Say it nicely, but let them know.

No matter what, you're not going to make anybody happy. You shouldn't have to answer to anybody, but if you feel that you need to, politely say that you have a very high metabolism. If you still feel the need to elaborate then easily mention how you eat a lot and/or more times a day, and it does not change your weight.

A lot of people in today's society kind of have a few sets of thought. The first are the older people (more the women) who ALWAYS say you're too skinny, you need to eat and be healthy. These are the same people that want you to have lots of babies, all tubby.
Then there are the ones that want you to join them in their obesity so as they don't as bad themselves.

if you're happy then it shouldn't matter to anybody else.

I was in the same boat as a teenager. I am 5'2" and weighed 92 pounds when I graduated from high school. My dad actually thought I was anorexic! I ate so much food, morning, noon, and night.

If someone says that to you again, turn to them and stuff a twinkie in your mouth and smile really big. What else can they say?

Enjoy being small. Trust me its better to be skinny and really in shape than to be big. I'm 6"8 and 325 I'm a pretty big guy and i have heard the other end of the stick my whole life!

Don't worry about it. As you get older your metabolism slows down and if you're inactive it slows down almost to a crawl. You'll pick up the weight (just make sure you don't pick up too much weight).

I used to hear those comments alot! It's best, in my opinion, to ignore them! Don't let it get to ya! They are being ignorant. If they are your friends, they should understand, it's just how your metabolism works. If they aren't your friends, leave it be, don't even waste your time replying! Best wishes!

Just to shut them up, I would say the doctor tested me and told me I have an overactive thyroid, but it's not bad enough to require medication. So it's a lie, but anything to shut them up!
