I am sorry if I made you feel bad, I spent half my childhood in a morom church. My babysitter was mormon. and no I do nor understand why you would worship and pray to joseph smith. in that church there were pictures of him everywherem prayers to say to him and worshipp him. I went back and visted 5 years ago, with that same babysitter, and looked and fear gripped my heart. everything in me was telling me it was wrong and to leave. yes I told these guys I was not interested, they kept commng back. why didnt I call the church? because I never thought of it. they were kids, I do have heart and new they were trying to obey the church the best way they new how. they wasnt even 18 yet. you say you do this because you are worried about our salvation, but what about us worried about your's? you can cut us down and our beliefs but we cant do the same to you? I believe you are wrong and should worshipp the lord our God, not some kid who says he saw an angel and found some tablets.

I am sorry if I hurt anybodys feelings, I did not mean to. but it all does not make sence to me at all. I will not worshipp a human being who says he is a prophet and has a history of telling stories, and dont believe you should either.

In 1983 I invited a 3rd generation Mormon to speak publicly in a hall near to the local Mormon church. Several Mormons attended as elderly Thelma Geer was well known to them. She had written a book about her upbringing by Mormon parents in the USA and was now travelling the world lecturing on this faith she had left after becoming a born again Christian. In Thelma's book she said this:

"Even though Joseph Smith had died an inglorious death in a common jail cell, charged as a traitor, an adulterer and a horse thief, we Mormons glorified him and laid the blame on other churches and their ministers. We sang vindictively of how "The Priests of Baal" (ministers of other denominations), "desperate their crafts to save," had incited the mob that slew our prophet. In conclusion we intoned, "long shall his blood which was shed by assassins plead unto heaven. Earth shall atone for the blood of that man."

"In still another glorifying Mormon hymn, "The Seer, Joseph, The Seer", we related how Joseph Smith:
Of noble seed, of Heavenly birth
Came to bless the Saints on earth...
The Saints, the Saints his only pride
For them he lived, for them he died...
Unchanged in death with a Saviour's love
He pleads their cause in the courts above...
He died, he died for those he loved
He reigns, he reigns in the realms above...
He waits on Zion's shore
To welcome the Saints forevermore."

"I knew the songs and stories of Joseph Smith and I knew them well. I had heard them day and night for half a lifetime. Whereso'er Mormon people congregate, Joseph Smith's spirit seems to pervade the air as they tenderly talk of his lowly birth, his life, his minstry, his death, his worth. But I knew very little about Jesus' birth, and I was too embarrassed to ask for there seemed to be something clandestine about Jesus' conception."

"One night before I was old enough to understand the hows and wherefores of childbirth, as I sat quietly in the fireplace corner, I overheard the visiting Mormon missionary telling my father about when "God overshadowed Mary." When Papa discovered my presence, he sternly ordered me from the room. Then I realized that the Mormon missionary's recital of Jesus' birth had not been meant for my little girl ears. I had overheard a Mormon priesthood secret."

Clearly Joseph Smith was being attributed with the status of Jesus Christ in those songs. He was being worshipped. Stop feeling sorry and start rejoicing that you are breaking free from such idolatry! You are not alone for Thelma went through that too! Some of us Christians believe you!

Ok.. We don't worship Joseph Smith, nor do we pray to him! We pray to God, in the name of Christ. No where, in anything in our church, is there a prayer to Joseph. I have been in the church for a very long time, so I really do know what I'm talking about.

We have more pictures of Christ up then we will ever have of Joseph Smith. If you don't believe me, just walk into the foyer of one of our churches sometime. Usually, the first picture there is one of Christ.

I'm sorry if this upsets you, seeing as you are supposedly trying to apologize for being mean to us, but I think you are just trying to say why you think we are going to hell.

That's fine, you can think that if you want. I don't hold it against you. You are free to choose what you want to believe, that is your given right. Just please don't try to tell me that my salvation depends on believing the exact same thing as you do. Salvation comes in many ways, and only through Christ can that happen. Since I believe in Christ, and in His gift to me, I believe I am saved. Thank you for your concern.

Well, I'm sorry to say that you don't have the right understanding of mormons. That happens a lot. We don't worship Joseph Smith. I know it is a common belief among people who don't understand but we do not worship Joseph Smith. We thank him for the hand he had in the Lord's work but we do not worship him. We honor him for bringing light to the world after an age of darkness. But we do not worship him. We bless him for having the faith and courage to go through what he did despite the many persecutions. But we do not WORSHIP him.

Our own Book of Mormon glorifies greatly in Christ. 2 Nephi 25:26 " And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." I hope you understand that bit now. We do worship the Lord our God, and we will continue do do so til the end of our lives and even into the eternities!
I advice you to look at the church you left again, only this time look at it with the prospect of joining it again instead of criticizing. Too many people look to critizcize instead of to believe. I hope this answer has cleared some things up for you. Thanks for asking! We'll always be glad to answer!

Nope...twelfth February 2008 the Australia Prime minister Kevin Rudd stated "Sorry" to the complete populace of Aborigines for crimes performed to them through earlier governments. Entire documents had been spread out approximately legislation handed and insurance policies that intent plenty of suffering. It used to be performed as a country wide deal with. Sorry to aborigines is an major phrase to mention what used to be performed used to be flawed. Made a large change right here considering we supposed it!

No one in our churrch prays to Joseph Smith. I find it very difficult to believe that an LDS chapel has absolutely NO pictures of Jesus Christ. Our chapel has nothing BUT pictures of Christ, with one or two pictures of the temple or someone else. In one lobby, there is a HUGE picture of Christ with the young rich man.

No one prays to Joseph Smith.

I am not a mormon but it was my understanding that Joseph Smith was not worshipped. However, I am curious if he holds similar honor to that of Mary, also a human, to Catholics?

Wow that does sound a bit higher than Catholics hold Mary. Thank you Sasi.

I went to the LDS website and found this:
