In response to many who have disagreed, I thought we might continue the discussion.

Dualistic perception is not the Truth; it is an illusion formed by mind and duality can and will be transcended, but to speak of experience as dualistic is to refer to this illusion. Experience, itself, is an illusion formed by mind out of Nothingness, and so mind has no unchanging reference for anything it perceives.

For example, if 'darkness' is never experienced, this doesn't mean that an individual will not be able to see objects by the light of the sun, but light will not be a concept that is held in mind. It will have no meaning because there is nothing to define it as a unique condition. Once darkness is experienced, then both conceptual polarities of light/dark arise in the mind together, each defining the other.

This is how ALL perception takes place because this is how mind forms it's perception, as free-floating, self defining pairs. The reality behind perception is irrelevant.

I mean irrelevant in the context of experience. I ran out of room to clarify.
I'm fascinated by the resistance to this.

I was with you up to the last sentence. The reality behind the perception is, I would say, paramount. This is why.

Much of what we quality as happiness comes from our ability to meet our needs. Much of our ability to meet these needs is based on our ability to perceive them, and manipulate the world in such a way as to achieve them. Much of this is based on an accurate understanding of the world.

If I am correct, the reality behind the perception is very important.

...knew a guy in college who's reality included the ability to fly. Turned out gravity (truth) wasn't irrelevant after all.

Since you're making this statement on R & S, I would say that truth (God) will turn out to be relevant to all people regardless of their perception.

Ironically, this sort of thinking is what got people to believe in the *other* dualism, the idea that the mind is a separate entity from the body.

In technical terms, we call this a category error.

Our perceptions seem to be divided into two possibilities. Either "It can eat me," or "I can eat it." This is upon our first glimpse or hearing.
