Recently my truck, (2000 model btw) started missing. it done this once before and i added some fuel injector cleaner and cleared the problem. Now its doing it again, done the same thing but this time the problem still remains. Now a symbol that looks like a engine has came on and will not go off. I know its not the check engine light. So, what does this symbol mean and what can i look at to stop this miss. Its driving me crazy not being able to narrow down what it is.

You are wrong about what you know. The light with the engine symbol is the check engine light. Take it to a local parts store that will hook up a code reader and tell you what the problem is before some real damage is done.

The symbol is a check engine light, it's telling you that your vehicle is not performing properly. It will store a code that your local dealer will be able to use their scanner and detemine the exact problem. Its a miss-fire and depending upon the miles on it I would say it's either plugs, wires, cap, and or rotor.

I once had a 98 Dodge Dakota and I had similar problems. I took it to a dealer and they cleaned the throttle body. They said that carbon gets built up on them and they need cleaning every now and again. Good luck!

that is your check engine light
you can check the codes yourself.
the button on the odometer hold it then turn your ignition to the on position. and it will perform a test after this test
do this exactly as said
turn the key on, off, on, off, on and the it will show a code
and if there are no codes to be shown because there are none
it will show P Done
if there are codes it will say P0113 or P0(code)

email me with the code and i will answer you and tell you what it means. anthony_wheeler23@yahoo.com
i hope this helps!!!

Read your owners manual. It depicts all the symbols in the front of the book.
