The Air Force is very good at working joint-spouse assignments. Having said that, however, the problem is going to be you. Aerospace maintenance is a limited field, so you can only go to several bases. If you finished basic and tech school first, your chances would be a lot better. Unfortunately, she'll probably get her first duty assignment before you get yours, and she'll probably report there before you even get to Tech School and get an assignment.
If your wife has to report to her first duty assignment before you get your first duty assignment, the only thing she can do is talk to her First Sergeant once she gets there, and don't be surprised if they say she'll have to be there at least a year before they'll consider moving her -- and if she ends up going overseas, chances are she'll have to do the whole tour with a follow-on to whatever base you end up at. However, if you get to Tech School and get an assignment before she completes Tech School, they may be able to work something out. If that happens, you both need to talk to your Military Training Leaders (MTLs) at your respective student squadrons and explain what's going on. They'll do what they can for you.
One other option: As a last resort, your wife could put in for a short tour to Korea. She'd be there for a year, but they pretty much guarantee the stateside assignment you want when you come back.

Yes, they do have a program where they try to keep spouses together. Assignments depend on the needs of the Army and the careers of the soldiers. Some soldiers can go to only a few bases because of their career, so spouses should plan on careers that will be needed at every base. There will also be some short assignments to 1 year tours in Iraq where the spouses won't be together. Good luck.

There is no garuntee for any duel military married couple of being stationed together. You do have the benefits of being in the same military branch and she seems to be going into a field that will let her go to almost any base (your choices will be far more limited). Talk to your command to find out what you need to do, paperwork wise, to get the request for a joint assignment going now. Good luck to you both,.

There are no guarantees...but if she is in Security Forces, there is a high likelihood you will be stationed together, since SF are needed at every base...the AF works very hard to keep married couples together, so I'd say you are all but 100% to get stationed together, just make sure your personnel file indicates you are military married to military.

There is a really good chance that you two will end up at the same duty station. Depending on how long you are in there is a chance that you will be separated for a year or so. Another thing we are at war even if you are on the same duty station that does not mean you will be in the same unit and if yours or her unit deploys then you will be separated. Nothing in our life styles are guaranteed.

i wouldnt count on it! Millitary dosent opperate that way! But sence your in the USAF youll have a better chance because there is a fewer need for them at this time. And also you can volunteer to be in a specific group that is going to be deployed if your not already assined somewhere. But that is me talking from the USMC so thats all i know! Good Luck!

Legally, since you are married, the spouse must be given the option to move whereever the active duty spouse gets stationed. If there is not a specific job available in that area, then you can re-class to a job that is available (opening). Im not sure how it works if you are both AD, but they must allow you to stay together I know that for a fact.

they might try to station you both on the same base but when it comes down to it, you'll probably be stationed within the same geographical location. meaning you'll be stationed within 400 miles of each other. ain't life a &%$#.
