The body goes to the ground, the soul to the Spirit World to await the Second Coming. When Christ comes again, the body and soul will reunite in their perfect form.

The mind becomes part of the universal life force and the soul goes on to its eternal rest. The body goes to the Earth.

Hebrews 9:27
And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.

Body, mind and soul are resurrected. Some to eternal life, others to eternal darkness.

Daniel 12:2
And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Jesus said, “And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” - John 6:40

The mind is the product of electro-chemical activity in the body. The perception of the self is the soul. When the body ceases to operate, the electro-chemical activity stops. The mind ceases to perceive, and consequently, ceases to perceive the self.

where they came from. back to God.
the flesh which is merely a vessel goes back to dirt where it belongs. the soul/ruach/pneuma is the essence of a person, it's transfigured into the spirit body upon death.

luke 16:19-31....lazarus and the rich dude...rich dude dies and is in heaven, he can see lazarus and abraham near God's throne and waters of life...but he cannot cross the "GULF" that divides him. he wants to go back and warn his family to get it right. rich dude isn't a bad guy, but he wasn't saved either. he's close but being divided causes him "torment".

book of enoch goes one further and describes 4 holding places for the souls of the dead.
1) murder victims back to Abel crying out for justice and a trial.

2) murdering raping scum bags waiting for trial.

3) not saved but not evil people like the rich dude.

4) saved.

most of those souls will be called up on the lord's day/millennium to be taught with no interference from satan of man/religion. most of them will make it to the eternity and many including those murderers etc...will hit the lake of fire where they belong. no scum in the eternity Thank God.

They all stay in the ground, decompose, and encourage new life by fertilizing the soil to help sprout flowers. Live and death and a continuous cycle. In a way, we are never really dead as long as there is some sort of life force on the planet.

Mind is gone because it's dead. The body is either buried or cremated or donated to science. The soul goes wherever you believe it goes (reincarnation, Heaven, etc.).
