I know that everyone SHOULD carry their prescriptions in the original bottle, but do you HAVE to when you have them as carry-on pieces on an airplane. I would rather have them in a day-by-day pill box. Is this OK or not??

I fly often and i put my pill's in a day-by-day pill container in my carry on and have never had a problem, but i would recommend photocopying the prescription or take the label from your prescription bottle.

it should be okay, provided that you bring a copy of the prescription (or at least the bottle label) along with you to prove that this is really your stuff.

Honestly, the TSA guys mostly seem to care about liquids and gels. A 4 ounce bottle of sunscreen is going to cause you more trouble than your prescription meds.

For pills, there are no TSA restrictions. It's things like liquids and creams that will give you problems.

You really should keep them in the original packaging - to eliminate hassles by overzealous TSA agents... Otherwise, you could be in for a LONG time while they figure out what each prescription is.... I'd be most worried about any controlled substances - like painkillers or ADD medications, since those are the most commonly "abused" ones...

In some states you can get arrested and held if you do not have your prescription with you if you are carrying many different prescription drugs. Better safe than sorry.
