Police stations smell like doo-doo because cops are full of crap.... why do you think they're called "pigs"?

Most of the time, it is not the Police Stations that smell like doo-doo, but the drunk they just brought in. Doo doo and pee pee, in their pants. After the air clears, the Police Station is OK, once they send the smell over to the County Jail. Doo doo and pee pee. Did you doo doo in your pants, while there ??

Most of the police stations I have been in smell very clean...
( I do have an idea of what you are talking about though)

Lets look for a moment at some of the things that might cause a police station to smell bad.

1) The arrested people, who are often drunk tend to vomit, urinate and excrete feces on themselves. The homeless people that sometimes come trhough who never really get a chance to bathe so they have all kinds of funky odors on them.

Then if arrested subjects are held their for any period of time it will have a certain jail element to the air which is unique in itself.

2) The police department probably has several dogs which come through who probably have a unique smell (most pollice dogs do) and may even leave little presents in the station.

3) Your going to have the smell of fingerprint ink and GO JO from the booking room. You might even have the smell of printer and copier ink, photo development chemicals and other general office smells.

4) You might have the smell of pepper spray in the air which some will say smells like oranges and others say it smells like vomit (depends who you ask...I guess)

5) Many of the cops, secrataries and other staff where cologne which is going to add another element to the smell.

If the building is cleaned regularly it should be tolerable.

At 46, I have to say, I haven't spent enough time in police stations to detect any memorable smells.

I suspect that what you are smelling are some of the folks who've been arrested, who are too busy breaking the law to think about personal hygeine.

So, why do you spend so much time at police stations, if you don't like the smell?

Spend more time at new and used bookstores. Mmmmm! I love the smell of books....

the station itself always smells good. prisoners do not go thru the public areas. the cells areas often smell cause the prisoners are too lazy to keep themselves clean

Consider the element....not the police officers themselves, but the 'residents' who use body fluids/solids to attempt getting those mental health transfers.
Inmates stink....under the best of circumstances!
