ok im only 23 yrs old. i have a beautiful family and an adoring hubby. im a lil chubby and have kick *** skin!!lol. but anyways, just today ive read about girls that iether think they are too fat, their bf thinks thier too fat , and even parents think their too fat. what the freakin hell?!!!! i remember when i was in high school looks were important but they didnt make us go crazy, like nowadays. ive ssen lil gilrs becoma anorexic, bulimic, just cause their peuiny lil heads get filled w this kind of crap. i loved the old days. when u could just walk out ur house wearing a pair of shorts and no one would give a care in the world. it makes me angry that kids are just seeing what other paople are seeing and not looking inside themselves and seeing true beauty!! am i wrong to think this?

you are absolutely right!! I blame the media.....pushing the idea that super thin is the only way to be beautiful. pushing the idea that the exterior is the only thing that is beautiful about a person. I say destroy the tv sets, get rid of the so called fashion magazines and teach kids the beauty that exists inside them.

I know what ur saying but ur not in school anymore and people don't care if ur fat then ur life is hell am 16 and in high school and a lot has changed when I walk down the halls I c gurls and boys who have to be perfect. And if ur not "perfect" u better know some cool kids cuz idk we live in a society now where this is not such thing anymore as inner beauty. In school the only think that matters is what ur outside is not the inside. Here is my problem I try and tell my self that want the kids at school think dont matter but I can't and I hate it sometimes kids are so mean that some kids dont know how to handle it (me) and u just wanna go away. A while ago I cut my self did not want to eat really wanted to die and every nite I would act like I was fine and go in my room and cut. I dont do it anymore but I have scars like crazy and I dont think am going to like myself very much anymore. Because of words I have some problems am working on and am trying to believe that am a a good person and am worth loving and what the other gurls think dont matter. But is like kids are never goodenough not skinny not pretty not smart and i agree with u

It's not just the media but when things like photos are done, even regular magazines and not the fashion ones have the person photoshopped. Celebrities rarely step up without makeup and of course the makeup is covering up their blemishes. But since your 23 years old, maybe the kids are getting more influenced by the world around them. Does 10 years of media 'progress' really make a difference if all these kids had spines and good self-esteem? And 10 years ago it wasn't that all people could dress down and get away with it, it's probably the person said, "Too bad. My choice," instead of "You're right. I look like a trash bin. :("

It's sad that kids can't just be kids, but the video age has caused a lot of overweight kids. They sit on their butts instead of outside playing like people your age did when you were a child.
Fat cells develop when you're young and you can never get rid of them, only change the size of them.
Sitting.,playing games, and eating while a child causes these cells to develop and then you have to fight the weight forever.

Not only does the media make girls want to be thin themselves, but it makes guys think that women should look like that, so they get extra pressure from the opposite gender. It sucks.

it's b/c we live in a society that makes everyone feel like they have to be better. no matter how good they are it's not good enough.
I personally don't care about what other ppl think and i think htat parents should raise their kids accordingly... but as far as it ever being fixed... i highly doubt it... it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
