I have a 50+ inch Mitsubishi projection tv that's about 8 years old and all the channels are getting a red look to them. I've tried to vacuum out the inside but it's not helping. Any suggestions? Or is it time to bite the bullet and get a new tv?

the red "look" is because there is more red light then green and/or blue. Assumption is REDDISH and not all RED. If all red, it is probably a hard failure. I am not familiar with this tv, but look for whatever could be causing reduced light output - dirty lenses, etc.

If not that, it is an electronics issue which may be adjustable in the short term. Look for a set of red, blue, green controls.
first turn color control to min or off. Determine which color is the weakest by turning red and green down and blue up, then blue down and green up. Whichever is weakest, set it at a comfortable level with the brightness at midrange, then the red and other color to get a black and white pix.

reset color control.

If you were successful, it is probably only a matter of time.

Sounds like either the blue, green or both guns have gone out. First try un-plugging the tv for about 15 minutes, plug back in, then try it. If that does not work, call a technician.

My guess is yes......Maybe try calling like a customer support line for that brand and see what they have to say? They might know right off hand if it's common or not.
