however he has never paid maintenance too me or my other three siblings. I know im 22 now, my brother 21, sister 19 and youngest 16. Thing is he ranaway to Pakistan and remarried, and hasnt returned to this country since. He has a house here and rents it out, that rent goes to him over in pakistan where he is enjoying a luxurious life. Recently 2 days ago his son from his new marriage came to the uk for the first time with his mums uncle.
Is there a way we could do something as the reason he left the country was simply because he didnt want to pay maintenance. Now his new son whom is 9 has come here. Surely there must be something we can do?

i rang my dad about a year ago and he asked me for money, i was extremely upset as he`s meant to be my dad and look after me. He left us with nothing, we were in a council house but our mother has worked so hard, and brought four off us up alone. Its not the money , well it is kind off its just that he cant get away with it. I just don`t know

Why is your dad asking you for money when he is living a luxurious lifestyle?

It sounds to me that he's uncaring and selfish. Maybe he isn't worth making an effort for. You can make a happy life without your dad. He should have paid maintenance, but by him not wanting to, he's shown his spots. There's a lot of men like that in the world, unfortunately. But there are good ones too...

I don't think there is anything you can do legally if he's out of the country. And now you and your siblings are older, I don't think he would be required to by law (depending on if they are in full time education, probably).

Try Citizen's Advice Bureau. They can put you onto a solicitor (or go to one directly) who can tell you what your rights are.

Your mother could make claims against his assets in this country as part of the divorce. For a start she could claim at least half of the property he owns and could probably get the rest in settlement for his lack of maintenance. It doesn't matter if he isn't in the UK. If he fails to return to defend the case, he loses.
See a good divorce lawyer and take your father for what you can get.
Hes a typical waster who ran away from his responsibilities. he isn't your dad, he's your biological father only. A test tube, by the sound of it would have been a better father.
Love and respect your mother for what she has put up with and the way she has looked after you.
Good luck with your claims.

You have no legal recourse, you are an adult. Your mother should have tried to do something years ago, but she either couldn't or wouldn't. What you can do when someone leaves one country and goes to another, I would have no idea, she should speak to a lawyer.

However, you need to get counseling to help you learn to cope with the abandonment of your father. Don't contact him again, he doesn't care about your or your siblings. That makes him despicable.

Don't marry a man like that, and raise your son's to be honorable. Break the cycle.
