I'm not really overweight, only about 10 pounds but basically I just need to rework my eating habits and it's not something I can do alone. I want to know on average how much you think a nutritionist for this sort of thing would cost.

I don't need lectures on wasting my money or reading magazines for this stuff i just want to know a cost.

Thanks so much in adavnce guys!!

That depends. In some cases, consultations with a nutritionist are covered at least partially by medical insurance. So it's really hard to say. I can tell you in the Detroit area nutritionists charge as much as $150.00 for a one-hour consultation, and you usually have to see the nutritionist at least twice a month, so that can get pricey.

I know you said you didn't want to hear a lecture, but one thing you should keep in mind: You say you need to re-work your eating habits and it's not something you can do alone. So are you prepared to see a nutritionist for the rest of your life? You may be setting yourself up to be dependent upon someone else to keep your eating habits in line forever. There's nothing wrong with wanting to consult someone who really knows what they're doing to help you out, but in the end your success or failure is going to depend on YOU sticking to a plan and making permanent changes in your eating and exercise habits. So in the end, it's not about someone pointing you in the right direction; it's all about you doing it.

It depends. Some health insurances will pay for it, or at least part of it - so that would greatly decrease your cost.

Otherwise, and this might be high or low depending on your individual needs - figure at least $100 a visit. But, call a couple in your area and ask them for a true number.

What ever it costs it would be a good investment. I'm a little younger then you and I grew up learning really bad eating habits from my parents but now I have changed my diet and lost a bunch of weight and it's like a big burden has been lifted off my shoulders!!!
Good Luck!!!
You can do it!!!

You doctor can refer you to one and your parents insurance would probably cover the cost. In the meantime pick up the book the The Diet for Teenagers Only as it has all the info you are looking for in it to help you along with seeing a dietician.
