I need more iron for certain reasons but i dont like greens liver sprouts ect so what has iron init

Try deeply pigmented plant foods like carrots, red pepper, apricots and cantaloupe melons. Tomatoes, orange juice and citrus fruits are a good source of iron. You could increase your intake of iron fortified cereals.Try eating liquorice, but eat in moderation, cos can cause retention of sodium which may increase your BP.Cut down on tea as iron absorption can be inhibited by the tannins in tea.

You have already been given some good lists of iron rich foods, so I will just add that iron is better absorbed by the body with vitamin C taken alongside it - so when you are eating foods rich in iron it is a good idea to have it with a large glass of orange juice. Good luck!

You would probably be best then to get iron tablets, which you can either get prescribed from the doctor, or a health food shop such as Holland and Barrett. Spinach is a very good source of iron and red meats. Try below...

Liver, spinach and most leafy green vegetables. Also try an iron vitamin. Red beets are a good source also

Iron Rich Foods
Foods that are a good source of iron include:

* liver
* lean red meats, including beef, pork, lamb
* seafood, such as oysters, clams, tuna, salmon, and shrimp, etc.
* beans, including kidney, lima, navy, black, pinto, soy beans, and lentils
* iron fortified whole grains, including cereals, breads, rice, and pasta
* greens, including collard greens, kale, mustard greens, spinach, and turnip greens
* tofu
* vegetables, including broccoli, swiss chard, asparagus, parsley, watercress, brussel sprouts
* chicken and turkey
* blackstrap molasses
* nuts
* egg yolks
* dried fruits, such as raisins, prunes, dates and apricots

--------------Iron Fortified Foods
In addition to foods that naturally have a lot of iron in them, many foods are now fortified with iron or have iron added to them. This is good news, because many kids, especially younger ones don't usually like many of the best iron rich foods, such as liver, oysters, clams, and lentils.

Check food labels to find foods fortified with iron, including:

* Instant Oatmeal
* Ready-to-eat Cereals, such as Total, Product 19, Raisin Bran
* Grits
* Iron Kids Bread
* Carnation Instant Breakfast Mix
* Pasta
* Iron Fortified Toddler Formula, such as Enfamil Next Step or Similac 2

Remember that a food that provides 10-19% DV or more for a nutrient, such as iron, is usually considered to be a good source of that nutrient, so compare food labels and look for foods that have higher numbers for iron on the food label.

iron kids bread has iron in it beets have iron in them as well
seafood also has iron in it like oysters clams tuna salmon strimp
beans have iron in the kidney lima navy pinto and lentils
some cereal has iron in it mainly whole grain cereal
believe it or not chicken and turkey have plenty of iron in it as well
eggs yolks have iron too raisins have iron in them too mix them with nuts which also has iron and you have a snack on the go.

Red meats. Spinach doesn't have any more iron than any other green vegetable. If you are a vegetarian (especially if you are a woman), you should take an iron supplement.

If you have a higher intake of vit c apparently that helps you get iron. i read it earlier on a web site

Baked beans are defo good for iron

well start with a cast iron pan
I bought one because I was anemic
when I was younger.than foods
like pasta sauce tomato sauce
a cereal thats great for iron is
whole grain cheerios.salmon
kidney beans,soy beans,lentils
black strap molasses.dried
fruit like prunes,apricots,figs,
raisens,shrimp,oysters.
eggs.
