Well i believe swimming is defitley going to win this one, See when you swim it's arobics so it's making you lose fat, Going to the gym and lifting weights does not make you lose fat it make you build muscle. So if you want to lose weight swim, If you want to get heavier go to the gym and lift weights.

Swimming is supposed to be the best exercise you can do because you are doing cardio and working all your muscles due to the resistance of the water. It even works muscles you dont use much and wouldnt be able to work in the gym.

swimming is cardio, yes but it would build more muscle in your arms. the gym if you're just lifting weights only builds muscle. you need a combination of these two things, cardio and muscle building to really lose weight.

both a great...swimming will give you a leaner body as where resistance training in the gym will build muscle...this is why you may have heard someone been reffered to as having "a swimmers body" ...they tend to be alot leaner....so it really depends on how you want your body to be...I prefer swimming, but thats because I have always been a water baby....cant keep me out of it! :-)

Combine the two on alternating days so you work different muscles, and burn calories more efficently.
As far as calorie burn, they say swimming.
