I am looking to possible move to the big apple and I wanted to know what's it like living there? How much does apartments start at?

Depends if you want to live alone or with roommates. Also depends on apartment size and location.

If you don't mind sharing a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment with roommates, you can find places for under $1000/month on Craigslist's apartment listings.

If you want to live alone, I agree with the first poster. A studio will cost you at least $1500 to start.

Housing will by far be your biggest expense. As I said in a previous answer, you need to be making minimum $40000/year to live independently in Manhattan.

I live in NYC - studio's start at $1,500 a month, so its not cheap. Its a pretty great place to live though. I always think people should live here at least once in their lives. Restaurants, nightlife, museums are just of the few great things about this city.

Your looking at at least $2000.00 per month for a small studio apartment. NYC is fast paced and loud.
