Not all USPS offices have passport services.
Be sure to go with two 2x2 passport pix you can get taken at a drugstore with a photo dept.
And find out what form of payment they require.

Go to your local post office to pick up the form and then ask them where the nearest passport office is. Usually you have to send it to Miami.
