You have insurance on your vehicle & that extends to anyone you allow to drive it. The insurance follows the vehicle, not the driver. So, all your boyfriend has to do is to take YOUR insurance ID card with him to court to prove the car was insured & that is all he has to do. The ID card shows the dates of the insurance (whether 6 months or a year). If your policy has renewed since the ticket, be sure to have him take the one that covers the date he got the ticket. The court should dismiss the no insurance ticket. He will still get the speeding ticket I am sure. If you lost your ID card, just call your insurance agent or company & they will give you another.
If your boyfriend is a member of your household and does not have his own vehicle, he should be added as a driver on your policy. If he is not a member of your household he doesn't need to be added as a driver (unless he drives it a lot), best to check with your insurance if he needs to be added as a secondary or occasional driver.
His company insurance has nothing to do with this.

Let me get this straight......it's your car and you are fully insured, the bf drove the car and was pulled over? He thought he had insurance coverage through his work, but it turns out he doesn't, right? So, a no insurance ticket? What about your insurance coverage, is he covered there? If you reside together, for him to be covered, he would have to be added as a part time driver of your car. As for coverage from work, his work is correct that the coverage would only apply to cars he uses from his workplace, and probably only during his normal work hours. Whether it is a mistake or not, he will lose his license if your state allows that. Some simply ticket you, with the statement that you must provide proof of insurance when you go to court, or your license will be suspended. If he does that, he'll just pay his fine, and his license isn't in jeopardy.

RE :Caught with no car insurance?
i asked this question already, but don't think i was specific enough, i am fully insured on a golf, which my boyfriend drove, beleiving he was insured under his company insurance as third party, since he drives dozens of cars at work.(and at a similar company he worked for last year it did cover him) however when he asked for the insurance policy from work he was informed it only covered the work fleet cars. it was a stupid but honest mistake, will he lose his licence?

as long as your car was insured at the time, HE should not be getting a ticket of any type. It's the CAR that has to be insured. And it doesn't matter whether or not he's listed as a driver on your policy or not.

If your car is fully insured, it's covered regardless of who is driving it. Your b/f should have simply showed your insurance card to the cop when asked.
He only needs to take YOUR insurance card to the courthouse to get the ticket dismissed as long as the effective date of the policy is BEFORE the date on the ticket.
