Not very long. I'm a super instinctual person and I can usually tell within a few minutes if I want to continue to date a person. As for really figuring somebody out, you have to go through some experiences with them so you can predict how they are going to respond in certain situations, how they are going to react to what is said, and what types of things they need at certain moments. This takes a little bit of time, but if you are observant and genuinely interested and attentive to what they say / do, it shouldn't take too long. My experience is that I "figure people out" pretty quick because I am attentive and observant of the other person.
Your instincts say alot if you listen to them. More often than not, your body is telling you you're going down a bad path before you actually decide to change something - interesting!

It takes a lifetime to 'figure out' your spouse! You can learn some of the things that make a person tick in very little time if you're an observant individual but to even assume you can figure out the complete make-up of a person is preposterous. You can, however, stereotype and pigeonhole this person into the mold that society marks as the norm but then you run the risk of having a relationship based on nothing but hearsay, fantasy and others' opinions. Take you time to know the things about this person that will affect your immediate relationship, the rest come with patience, tolerance, and time>.

My honest heartfelt answer would have to be never. Very rarely do you find that special person that can finish your sentances, know what they are thinking, etc.
I think that is what makes alot of relationships fun. You never know what to expect next. I don't mean that in a bad why but if you knew what to expect everyday and it seems like the same old routine and or conversation would that be any fun at all?
I have been with my GF for three yars now and we still don't have eachother figured out nor are we really trying to. We have it down to knowing what the other person likes and dislikes, the type of things they would laugh or cry at but nothing really more than that. And it's great.

There’s a difference between a regular guy, and a decent guy. A regular guy treats you like a beautiful flower, one that smells nice, and is very attractive and desirable. A decent guy will treat you like a princess, and obey as he interacts with you. Remember, the princess will one day rule, a flower wilts and dies.
Decent guys figure out who's a princess sooner. I'd say anywhere form immediately to 5 hours together.

Actually it's not the time I think.. It's all about the quality of the date you've had with this person.. sometimes 1 date and 1 kiss says it all....

Well, in a relationship, one must be a willing party and the other, a giving party. We have lots of things to understand before finding out if he's/she's the one.
For me, it took me 6 months just to understand her character and needs,
Cheers :)

Some people know their partners for years, but find out they never really "knew" them at all.
How long it takes to 'figure' someone out will vary...and you'll only figure out what they put out there for you anyway...

I don't believe you ever figure each other fully. That takes marriage or living together to do that.

It takes 4 hours, you see when she smiles too much you just know that you have blown it.
But then again some people have this abilty to know someone from their looks or just the way they are talking. Maybe their gift or curse.

it really just depends.
you can know someone for years and not be able to figure them out.
or you could know someone for days and be able to figure them out.
its a different scenario for each person, it all depends.
