Good answers so far. I would personally rather speak to the animals, but both sides have a point.

Animals act on instinct; they are predictable. If you spend a lot of time with animals, you usually know what they are thinking. For this reason, I would rather speak 20 languages. The human mind is so much more complex, and the language humans speak is also complex; it would be much more difficult to learn 20 language; and, in my opinion, much more rewarding.

I already speak four languages, but wish I could speak more. I believe that people have more to say that would interest me than animals. It's true that we don't give animals the respect they deserve and animals are generally more intelligent than we give them credit for. Still, I have more in common with people and when I speak to someone in their own language, I learn a lot more than if I had just spoken English. I've made friends from several different countries because I could speak their language. And it's interesting, because most of them could speak English, but we didn't really become friends until I spoke their language.

I would rather speak 20 different languages than speak to the animals, because speaking to animals would make you seem crazy to others...

I would rather speak the languages. I love languages, and love hearing other people speak, and would love to be able to speak with them in their own language. I'd also love to be able to travel the world and not have to worry about any sort of language barrier. I think it would also be cool to be able to read any book I wanted in any language, or see any film.

I already know 4 and I'm still working on my fifth and sixth ones. But I prefer twenty different languages because firstly, its more, and secondly, I'll get to pass all my language classes easily and if I become a doctor and have any foreign patients, I can understand them.

Animals. So I'd know what they are thinking. We can usually find a means to converse with people, but no good way to know what animals think.
