they allowed to sell so much beer at sporting events when we all know that everyone there has to drive home afterwards? Very few people walk to a stadium. I ask this because this past weekend, a guy in my state, leaving a ballgame after drinking multiple beers, hit another car and killed two people. He now faces a manslaughter charge.

people should have enough sense to realize they are risking their lives and the lives of others. But after a couple drinks they don't realize, some are alcoholics. Some are druggies.
There are more car deaths from alcohol than anything else on the roads, The Ball games want to make money. Like a club or beer joint, I don't think many tell someone they have had too much, even by that time is is too much to drive. Everyone knows there should be a designated driver, but they think they are immortal and it could never happen to them. Even if they have children in the car. How irresponsible can people be? They should all be thrown in jail. There should be officers outside every game and event, to check each driver and haul in those that have too much to drink. They would have to be at each exit, why can't they do that? It would solve many problems there.

Because less than half the people in the stadium actually drive there. Most carpool since very few people go to the game alone and another large portion take public transportation because they live in the city.

Plus they are praciticing caution because most if not all major stadiums cut off alcohol sales after a certain point which is well before the end of the game.

Has to do with responsibility. Lets say a friend was at your house for a party and drank a bunch of beer. Got into an accident on the way home with the same results. It would not be your fault because you didn't tell him to drink so much. People at sporting events know that they have to drive home, so we assume that they are intelligent enough and responsible enough to restrict their drinking.
Don't blame the stadium, or bars, or restaurants if someone gets drunk and gets into an accident.
Ohio, for example, has laws that prohibit the sale of alcohol to intoxicated people.
Unfortunately, that law has paved the way for dozens of lawsuits because someone got drunk and the bar owner got sued.
People need to be responsible for their own actions and not blame someone else for what they do.

Top Dollar CASH at sporting events. The harder it is to find a beer the more expensive it will be and they hope the less people will buy but that is not always the case. People who drink and drive should know the risks and should be prepared to do jail time or worse. A $500 cab ride compared to $5000 for DUI and $50,000 lawyer fees, which would you choose?

The sporting events are trying to make money (its a business) and alcohol is one way to do that.
With that said, It is up to people to hold them self accountable with everything they do or say. Some people do this very well some don't.
I for one do not like any personnel freedoms taken away from everyone because a few can not handle them self.
Yes, it sad that two people died and one will spend about 15 years in prison. That; like it or not; is life and the ups and downs that come with it.

the idea seems to be that people like a beer or whatever while they watch the game.
and they're supposed to be mature enough to know their limits.
if they know they're going to such an event and don't know their limit they're ment to have a sober designated driver.
the people who run the stadium would not sell something no one would buy, people like alcohol while they watch so they provide it.
they are legally completely covered, it's morally and ethically iffy.
the bottom line is you have to look after you. you don't want to cause an accident then you need to plan so you don't risk is.
"failing to plan is planning to fail", have a designated driver, know your limits, call a cab or find another option, so you and everyone else is more likely to get home safely.

Many ballparks have made a rule of no alcohol sales after the seventh inning. In baseball of course. Don't know about other sporting events. But just like the bars, the proprietors really have no control over who drives and who doesn't. Most are beginning to cut people off if they appear drunk but you can't really expect a minimum wage server to figure out who's drunk and who's sober. Besides, at seven bucks a beer, which of these ballparks are going to make much of a stink about it.

Maybe the beer companies make assumptions of responsability- that the people who are buying know their limitations where alcohol consumption is concerned and will stop themselves before that limit is exceeded. But sadly there are variables the beer company does not take into account and at the end of the day they are about making sales, not about accountability. That's up to the individual.

i see exactly where you are coming from. i believe alot of sports events & teams are at the discretion of the owner of the team-if they want to stop selling, or make extra $$ & risk the drunk drivers. At Detroit Pistons games, they stop selling after the 3rd quarter-just the vendors, not if you go into one of the bars at the Palace. But also not everyone drinks at sporting events, so if you are responsible & designate a driver, drink up til the games over. touchy kinda situation.
