It used to be O-3, don't think it has changed.

you'd be direct comissioned as an O-3, plus officer's in the med service branch ussually get great bonuses, like an extra 1-3 grand, a month on top of their captains pay, and houseing allowance ect. Its a pretty good deal if you ask me. You get to keep a good six figure income, with out having to worry about maulpractice insurance and all that other stuff you'd have to worry about in the civilian sector.

It all depends on the Branch of Service, but the Navy, the Army, and the Air Force all have direct commission opportunities for doctors.

Check out their websites: www.navy.com, www.goarmy.com, and www.airforce.com. Click on the links for "Officer", they've got some good information there. Then find the local recruiters and ask them questions.

From personal experience, a friend of mine decided to go Air Force after she had earned her PharmD. She went through AF OCS and was commissioned as a Captain (O3).

Good luck with your decision, I hope the info helps.

Depends on their specialty and years of experience and if board certified or not. Right now neuro and ortho surgeons are probably getting top dollar, therefor higher entry rank.
