What a silly question... it is just a cartoon... and who isn't blue sometimes. The 'Pooh' characters are all just stereotypes of moods we all encounter from time to time.

The characters in the Winnie-the-Pooh books all have different characteristics that children will likely see in others or experience themselves. Piglet is full of fear, Owl-wisdom, Tigger-boundless energy, Pooh-bliss . . . For a better understanding of these characterizations, read the "Tao of Pooh." Children like to see themselves reflected in the books and can better understand what they do and how people react to their actions by seeing them in the books.

Oh, well . . .

It might have to do with his tail that seems to have been cut off by a drunk Winnie in one of his alcoholic rages when he thought that poor Eeyore stole some of his honey. Just speculation though.

You'd be depressed too if someone kept sticking a tail on your butt with a thumbtack...ouch! To make his problems worse, he's stuffed with sawdust that obviously doesn't stay inside since his coat is always baggy looking! ...and then there's is wonderful wisdom that he can't share with others...I think he's probably a tortured genius who knows he can't live up to his potential in the hundred acre wood!
