What about a fruit crumble with an ice-cream. Its not too rich or heavy, and personally I wouldn't want to eat anything too creamy or rich after a roast dinner.
However, at the same time, a light dessert wouldn't really be appropriate either.
I think a fruit crumble with an ice-cream would be perfect, something sweet and very tasty, to fill the gaps that the chicken missed.

My daughter did a fantastic Jamie Oliver pudding yesterday (she's only 9!) It's called King of Puddings.
1 pint milk
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 ounces (115g) fine bread crumbs
8 ounces (225g) sugar
4 level tblsp jam
Preheat oven to 300degrees F (150 degrees C)
Seperate 3 of the eggs. Put the yolk in a bowl with the remaining whole egg and beat together. Add milk, vanilla essence, bread crumbs and 3 ounces (85g) of the sugar.
Put the jam on the bottom of a pie dish and spread it evenly. Pour the egg and milk mixture over the jam.
Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour or until set.
Whisk the remaining eggs whites until stiff. Slowly add the remaining sugar until it is all mixed in. Pile this mixture on top of the pudding mixture, then bake in the oven for a further 15 to 20 mins. until the meringue is set and lightly brown.
Yum, it's really nice and really easy.

I would cut out the veg so you have plenty room for your chocolate cake for desert! If you are a small family you will need to have 3 pieces of choc cake each as that stuff never refreezes well.
Well I am just kidding of course, but I usually go for an ice lolly for desert always nice and refreshing mmmmmhmm soleros!

you have two real options either a traditional English pudding like bread and butter pudding or fruit crumble with custard or something really light like ice cream that fills in the gaps when eating. I'd go for crumble and custard can't beat it

Blackcurrant cheesecake, or if you are a chocoholic like me, then chocolate gateau with ice cream, or if you want something light then chocolate mouse.
