It should have a magazine that clips into the side of the gun intstead of below it. Range finder in scope with thermal optics built into the sscope. Just a small scope though. Fires a little bit larger round than a .308 caliber, with more stopping power.

The new 6.8 remmington bullets, bullpup design, larger magazines like 40 rounds or something. And interchangeable parts (see XM8). I think we've almost developed the rifle as far as it will go, so until railguns come around I think most of the research should be with reliability, efficiency, and ergonomics.

I think they should have shape memory adaptive materials added to the bullets so they can shoot more precisely. They have the technology for aircraft rounds, but not for the everyday guns. Basically these are laser guided bullets and it'll prevent more stray bullets.

A safety and a good target to kill ratio. A few gizmos for extra gadgets but nothing fancy or expensive. I really don't think the person getting the bullet in the back cares what model it was that shot him/her it was.

the most important thing is efectiveness; short barrrels, recoil controle, anti-jam chamber, so prolly w the electric charges
we had the new sound guns that give u head aches and even poop yourself and throw up , that stops u in ur traks , non leathal and highly effective
