check into an outpatient program first if possible or your regular DR. and let them know your reason for depression,it may be kind of hard to do but really that'll be the only way...once it is confirmed that you suffer from depression you could apply for S.S.I but you'll need allot of confirmation even from your job possibly so make sure you have all of your paper work in order, and your latest DR. appointments or your O.P. paper work to prove your suffering from depression...it's hard to get finicial help for depression...they don't let that one slide so very often...but anyway I hope you get well and that everything works out for you...because depression is no joke believe me....get help and get it fast....in the mean time try reading the Bible and some help your-self books...good-luck hit me up sometimes, you need to let some things go

Definitely check with your HR on what constitutes short term / long term disability. If your doctor will write up something saying that you are unable to work because of your depression, short/long term should kick in.
I wouldn't go after social security because that's hard to get for mental illness - from what I've heard.
Good luck!

If the MD verifies you are unable to work due to a mental/medical condition you MAY be eligible for a paid medical leave. Check with your HR dept.

well, if you can get a psychiatrist to back you, you can apply for social security disability, be aware, the first time you will be denied, it's an automatic, but sometimes on appeal, people do get disability benefits for severe, poorly controlled depression.
