hi, a chihuahua is around 3 to 5 lb, so they would'nt be much heavier. Chihuahuas are happy to live in flats, or houses with little or no garden, so yes they would make a good pet, even if you get a chi x with a pomeranian, but jack russels are terriers and need more room, they are hunting dogs, so i personally dont think they would be a suitable cross. Sorry if i affend people by saying that. A pom would also be happy and are loving dogs just the same as a chihuahua. Hope this helps.

Well chihuahuas are great small dogs except very protective and they will bark alot.

I have a toy poodle they are quite sweet little dogs very playful. Mine rarely barks and was very easy to train.

I have had many toy dogs so I can recommend alot.

Most toys don't grow up past 12 inches. My dog reached 8 inches and has now stopped growing. My chihuahua i had reached about 5 inches and stopped growing.

A toy would be great for you and when you get one it's good to get a collar and put 2 cat bells on it. This will help to let you know where the small dog is. Also after you get the dog take it to the vet right away will may after two days with you. Make sure you ask the person you get it from about the food it eats and so forth. I hoped I helped <3

Jack Russell Terriers are super active and very hyper. I would not recommend getting one unless you plan on spending a great deal of time with them at a park. Chihuahuas are much more suited to apartment life. Unfortunately with a cross you never know what you are going to get as there are no specific breed standards. Any small or lap dog would be good in an apartment such as Pug, Pomeranian, Shi Tzu, Lhasa Apso, etc. Do your research first.

I have a chihuahua and she is about 5 pounds at the most. I would reccommend going to an animal shelter in your neighborhood and selecting a dog from there. Not only are they cheaper but these dogs need a home!! You can find a large selection of dogs there, any shape and size and they can help inform you about the dog that you want.

I wouldn't recomend a cross between the two, but I would recomend a purebred chihuahua or a purebred jack russel. But I would DEFINETLY recomend pomeranians. They are so cute! They are sort of fluffy, not like puddles, and the have a tail that's not really a tail. It just goes POOF! But chihuahuas are nice to. Ive never had a jack russel but they look nice. Go to a shelter and pick that one that seems to connect with you. Happy Hunting!

Sounds like two very hyper breeds you're trying to cross together, and I think that cross would be about 10 pounds or so as an adult. Have you looked at like a maltipoo (cross between a maltese and toy poodle). they are very cute and no shedding (very important if you live in a smaller place), but it sounds like you like short haired, more manly dogs - i sort of agree with the lady that said french bulldog - sounds more like what you're looking for -they have a great temperament and are very cuddly, easy to train, kind of expensive though. hope this helps!

No one can recommend a breed without knowing your lifestyle, how long the dog may be left alone, how much exercise it will get etc. I would not recommend getting a crossbreed if it has been deliberately bred as such as the breeder will not be the type to have worried about health checks, socialising etc.
You need to do your own research - this is a good starting point:

No one can predict how big a mixed breed dog will get as their is no standard.

You would be much better off going to your local shelter and getting a full grown dog. You will know it's size up front, it will cost less and most of all you will save a life. It's a triple win situation.

A miniature American Eskimo is a great companion. Visit the National American Eskimo Dog Association website at www.eskie.com/naeda and look for a chapter close to you. Call the President of the chapter and have them recommend someone near you who is reputable. They are a great companion.

As you live in a flat I wouldnt recomend any dog unless its ground floor when it can go out when it needs toilet. All small dogs can be a bit yappy so make sure your neighbours wont mind either. A smal dog I recomend is a mini Yorkshire terrior as they can be very loyal. Or a pomeranian are really cute also.
