what are these types of headaches? I've had them for years- all the optomotrists I've seen say there's nothing wrong with my eyes..

The eyes would be the first thing that I would check...you couldbe focusing too much. Try to take periodic vision rests. Better than pressing would be "cupping". Make a cup with your palm (bunch up your fingers) and press them on your eyes so that there's contact only on the orbital rim and not the eye itself.
It ould also be a tension headache---try deep breathig exercises and imagine your neck turning into jelly : )

that's more of a sinus type headache. Pushing in on your eyes, causes a pressure change in the sinus cavities that from just above them, down to just below them. If you are not allergic to it, try some sudafed tablets. Better yet, check with your doc for the proper meds.

maybe the headache is weaker than the pressure of your fingers on your eyes...
you know the old:
"my arm hurts"
*stamps on foot*
"Ow!"
"how's your arm?"
"not as bad as my foot!"
