Hi Billy, good question - and I think it's a pretty common one which pretty much all Christians ask throughout our Christian lives (although I can give you a definate answer for the 2nd part: absolutely, yes, definately!)
I also find it interesting the way it seems (from my observations anyway), that blokes and girls seem to relate to God in different ways. (These are just my thoughts from what I've seen, but it seems to make sense to me, as we're created differently...) I think girls seem to be more feeling-related, possibly hear God's voice as thoughts more; whereas guys are often into the bible more. I think a good balance of both the Holy Spirit and the bible is good.
It can be a tricky one learning to discern God's path. I feel a bit like the blind leading the blind, but maybe I'll share some of my own experiences and thoughts...
Occasionally I get a very strong impression that God's saying something to me, but it's usually much less distinct; more a case of just walking by what you know to be true from the bible and from your church ie love God, love each other etc. The latest time I had a strong impression of God saying something was a few weeks ago (relatively recently). I'd been going through a tricky work situ, and a number of ppl from church had been praying for me. I woke up one morning and was deciding what to read from the bible. I thought one thing, then thought no, then a psalm chapter came into my head, and it just seemed good, so I turned to it, and it just seemed absolutely perfect for this situation. In a way it's just little, but I knew it was God because it gave me a real peace about the whole thing.
I think God's voice can often bring peace. He doesn't make you feel compelled to do something; if it makes you feel guilty and condemned, I don't think it's Him - He brings conviction which leads to freedom. Sometimes it can be difficult to explain, cos we can want rules and black and white things to live by, but He brings freedom.
I don't pretend to know how everything works, but it seems to me that regarding our thoughts, there are 3 main voices - 4 if you count other people: God's voice, our own thoughts, and the devil, but I think that often a combination of things influence our thoughts.
I'm sure though, that it wasn't God who told you that you were the anti-Christ. I had a similar experience a few years ago, and I've heard from other's experiences that thoughts like that can be one of the devils tactics.
Sorry if you seem to be going through a "desert-like time" with your relationship with God. I don't know - maybe He takes us through times like that to teach us to live by faith - just carry on believing the promises He's given us through Jesus and the bible. I think everyone who's been a Christian for any length of time will go through a desert-stage at some point. You'll make it through though; and hopefully you'll be better for it.
Maybe the best thing you can do is get into the bible, and enjoy hanging out with your Christian mates. I find fasting from time to time really helps me; don't know if you're on any medication tho - prob better not to go OTT!
You might like to read "Is that really You God?" by Loren Cunningham, and I'm sure many other Christian testimonies too.
God bless.

Hearing voices does not make someone schizophrenic. There are details about the voices that have to be looked at and other symptoms have to be present. You must know your Scripture. Christ dealt with Satan, in the wilderness, by knowing Scripture. Learning to know when Christ is talking to you can take some time and usually requires checking with Scripture and other Christians - as you are doing now. However, deliverance might well be needed to establish an unhindered relationship with the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Yes he does. Do you really know who he is, and what he did for you? The Lord does not always speak to you audibly, but he can. Every thought that you have either comes from God or Satan. And there is no such thing as coincidences. If you pray and ask God to tell you if abortion is right or wrong and then you see a bumper sticker saying choose life, then that is God speaking to you. When you read your Bible and the words jump out at you and have something to do with your life at that very moment, then God is speaking to you. You just have to open your heart and mind to receive, and believe that he cares and answers you...just maybe not in the way that you are looking for him to answer you.

To have a personal relationship with Jesus first tell God your sorry for everything you have done wrong in your life, i.e. asking God to forgive your sin. Then ask Jesus to come and live within your heart and change you.
Some folks feel different immediately, some folks, such as myself, wake up the next morning and know there is a difference within.
To pray this prayer you do not have to be anywhere special, you can pray it in your bedroom on your own or go to church, it doesn't matter, God is listening and He will not fail you.
Let me know how you get on or if you have any problems.

Dear friend,
You have a very good question.I am a senior close to 70 years old.I sort of have the same question.I believe that as we pray and study[or read] the Bible God the Holy Spirit guides us to the right answers.I honestly believe with all my heart the Lord Jesus cares very much for us in our personal lives.

To have that elusive real personal relationship with Jesus Christ 'The Living God' one has to do certain things....and the best way to understand these in full is to go on a course to find out. The Alpha Course..is a non-denominational course on Christianity..it describes the truth of the Gospels and what we have to do as Gods children to enter His world both here and in Heaven.
http://www.alpha.org
You can find a church near you which runs this course and I wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone who wishes to understand Christianity or Christians.
Best wishes, Mike.,

The fact that nothing returns should give you a clue to the fact that there is nobody there..........
If you do ever start hearing Jesus' voice in your head, you've got schizophrenia and should see a doctor.
PS Sorry if my somewhat flippant answer was near the truth. I hope I didnt hurt your feelings and I am sorry if you are genuinely ill, but it sort of proves my point.

Yes, he does. Listen to your heart. He will speak to you.
You have to get still and listen. He also speaks to you through others, through what is positive and uplifting and good.
