Would it be stupid or weird to have a honeymoon themed bridal shower? Items on the 'suggested list' would range from sunblock to BP gas gift cards, shampoo, body wash, etc?
My Maid of Honor is throwing me a bridal shower and we thought up this idea because my fiance and I are... broke... and these items, though not the typical gift or pretty, would be really helpful to us.

That would be fun, you could even do decorations as beach theme ( : Your bridal shower is geared to help you recieve whatever it is that you need most so go for it! YOu've probably already done your registration, but have you looked into honeymoon registrations? These include all of the above mentioned items as well.. check out like sandals.com and thebigday.com and thehoneymoon.com

No, I think it's kind of cute. If you're sending out invitations, you can have little honeymoon/vacation themed invites. People always like a little guidance on what would be good gifts, though and some people might get confused (since it's more traditional to buy home goods for a bridal shower).
One thing, though - I would be leary of asking for shampoo and other toiletries. Those are very personal items, so it might be better if you pick them out yourself. Sunblock, beach towels, beach chairs, gas cards, luggage, all that stuff is good. If your guests are feeling particularly generous, they could even "sponsor" a night at the hotel.

i think it is a great idea, they can buy you little care packages. i know they sell travel kits and walmart and you can register for new beach towels and a cooler for drinks. cute his and her sandals ( i saw some one time that wrote bride and groom in the sand, they were awesome). maybe some umbrellas and a little sand bucket kit. :O oh and Frisbee. :) this sounds very nice for your guest, perfect for any budget. oh beach chairs and some cute little glasses.
typically bridal shower gifts are suppose to cost a little less than wedding presents. this themed party sounds very cool. maybe someone could even get you a beached theme scrapebook.
so can alway get the household stuff as wedding gifts. i would hold off on shampoo and those kind of items. they can be bought cheaply at walmart in travel size.

I think it's really cute! Nobody needs to know that you are broke! Every bride to be is broke!! Just make the theme throughout everything for the shower and people will probably like the idea. Especially because it is different than a lot of showers I've been to! I love it!

I think that sounds like a great idea, very useful and unique. We went on a big family trip at Christmas, and all of our family got us vacation themed gifts, like gas cards and stuff, and that was great! Best wishes!

no i think it is a great idea- if you dont want to make it the whole theme you can make a honeymoon themed wishing well and give each guest an item to bring or a few ideas and give them the option to pick one to bring for the wishing well- love that idea because that one less thing for them to get!
