They weren't seven 24-hour periods of time. We do not know how long God's "days" are.

The bible is not meant to be interpreted literally. This is the case for genesis in particular, with its being a parable, more than a factual account. The world wasn't created, in what we as humans know to be seven days, rather its message is what is important, that an omnipotent, omni-benevolent, omniscient being created the world, or universe, or multiverse or what have you. I personally don't believe in this God, yet it allows the people of "bible times" to understand that God created the universe. The time is irrelevant, yet puts it into context for those who knew little. It certainly makes God seem powerful, etc.
The amusing thing is that God is supposed to exist outside of time, so time wouldn't have been a factor in the creation of the universe. These people had little to no knowledge of the cosmos and so used the "God of gaps"

Yes, in seven days.

Some Christians believe that it is only allegory of evolution.
But the Bible says that God created the plants on the 3rd day, and then He created the Sun on the 4th day.

How could the plants live for millions of years until the sun was created? That is not scientific.

If you say that God could have kept them alive until He made the sun, than why do you find it hard to believe that God could make the sun in 1 day!

If you say you are a Christian, but that the Bible is wrong, than what do you believe?

God created time just for us, so yes, I believe that seven days is seven days.

God does not go by time, such as he gave us. His time is much different than the time that he gave us.

BUT, when he states seven days for creation, its the seven days that he created for us to live within during this time.

Remember, God could have just spoken all of us and this world into existence. He did not need to take seven days. He used the time that he created for us, and seven days is our current seven days.

No.

Of course, the Bible doesn't actually say that the earth was created in seven days, it just says that God created the heavens and earth 'in the beginning'.
The seven day period that followed, which could have been several thousands of years long, describe the time he took to prepare the earth for habitation.

no. the # "7" is the # of completeness. With God, a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is but a minute. 7 days is understood to mean that the creation was complete, finished, over, done, fin: not literally 168 hours.

Yes, it starts with "they're not 24 hour days" and ends with "and they're not even the same length"...basically the story is just a guess from some bronze age goat herders about how things worked. It never was a great explanation unless you're the type who hates science and just wants to credit God with all creation no matter how small.

If they're not one turn of the earth, why call them days?

This question is an invitation to make excuses for the short comings of myth written down in the Bible thousands of years ago. Myth is myth. Truth is truth. To claim as some Christians leaders do that myth is truth is a lie. Quit trying to look for ways of making excuses for liars. Christian leaders extort tithes and offerings from communities of faithful believers and invoke a good one in Heaven to threaten the life and or afterlife of anybody who does not submit to their authority based on fraud the follows from the lie that myth is truth.

2 Peter 3:8

8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

2 Peter 3:8 - "However, let this one fact not be escaping YOUR notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day."

So those days were really at least six thousand years.
