Generally, yes, a bachelorette party is girls' night out.
If you want to purchase the bride to be something fun and personal (lingerie, candles, massage oil, etc.) this would be the appropriate forum to do so. It's certainly not required by any means though.

If she is having a seperate lingere shower, take her gift there instead. We often have a lingere shower on the same day, before the bachellorette party.We usually give the bride sexy gifts, lingere, body massage items, risque things, or even gag gifts. We pay for her drinks and admission to the places you go, and have her wear a funny veil or t-shirt so everyone knows she is the bride.

usually the gift at a bacherlorette party is paying for the brides expenses, such as drinks and dinner. perhaps a "sexy gift" but nothing practical like a toaster.
